The Lorax is the story that represents the danger of industry on the environment. The Lorax is the personafication of the environment or more precisely the environmentalist. The Once-ler is the personafication of industry or more accurately those who run industry. While the Lorax tries repeatedly to dissuade the Once-ler from cutting down the Truffula trees, he is unable to do so and the Once-ler cuts them down one by one.The Once-ler is driven by greed and wanting to sell more and more of his special coats made out of the Truffula trees. Slowly the animals that live among the Truffula trees have to leave as their environment is destroyed. In the end, the Once-ler is left alone, having cut down all the trees, and must think about what has been done.
The story closes with him giving the last Truffula seed to the boy he has been telling this story to in the hopes that one day the forest will grow again.
