Hold On...
You mentioned Arnica..., but doesn't Camphor disable the effects of Arnica? In some products this is true, the effects of Arnica and Camphor can cancel each other out, but Dr Hoy's uses a potent Arnica Montana Tincture which is stronger and more pure than the kinds used in some other products.
It's 1% listing in the ingredients is the strongest that can be included without changing the OTC nature of the product, but that's enough to allow it to work with the Camphor to deliver its beneficial pain and swelling reducing properties.

Is There Really a Doctor Hoy?
Or Is It Just a Name?
Yes, there really is a Dr Hoy. Sort of.The original product created by Bruce Haughey (pronounced Hoy) was designed for horses. It's high quality pain relief and clean nature meant that not only was it useful for soothing aching horses, but also meant it didn't pick up any mess when happy horses would stand in dust or roll in dirt.
To Mr.Haughey's surprise, the owners were using it for their own aches and pains and loving the results. Realizing a market was available, he reformulated that product for people, creating the Dr Hoy's that we know and love.
Mr.Haughey is a chemist who carefully developed and refined the Dr Hoy's formula for horses to be used for people. The product's name is in tribute to his father, who was a doctor, but did not have a hand in developing the product.
Dr Hoy's is an FDA-Approved and Registered product, made in an FDA-Approved facility.
Is it Good For...?
And my personal story.
Dr Hoy's is Great For:
Backaches - Dr Hoy's is a handy tool for chiropractors and massage therapists.
Arthritis - Testing for age 55+ has been excellent and Dr Hoy's is well used in many care facilities.
Sprains - Since Dr Hoy's tackles pain and reduces inflammation, its perfect for strains.
Joints and Tendons - Dr Hoy's penetrates deep to deal with joint and tendon pain in heels, knees, hips, elbows and shoulders.
Muscles - Dr Hoy's not only reduces muscle pain and inflammation from exertion and injury, but also relaxes muscles before and after exercise.
Stories
The owner is fond of telling the story where she was at a trade show, and a lady walked up to her complaining about pain in her below the gumline. She suggested applying some Dr Hoy's Pain Relief Gel to the outside of her jaw. In minutes, the fast acting, deep penetrating formula went through her jaw, through the gum line and to the sensitive area. Soon the lady was talking and eating as if the pain had never been there. I don't think many dentists carry Dr Hoy's, but maybe they should!
I heard that Dr Hoy's was good for headaches, too (really, just about anything that hurts, and isn't an exposed wound can be treated). My mother suffers from migraines, so I gave her some samples to try the next time it flared up. No serious pain from the migraine, and since the pain was reduced, the accompanying nausea was nipped in the bud as well. The next day she felt great, having shortened what could have been a three day event to a minor overnight hindrance. Anything that will stop a migraine in its tracks has me convinced.
My Story
Getting older, and more out of shape, I recently acquired some tendonitis in my ankle that made it impossible for me to run, made waking up stiff and painful, and generally made putting on shoes or walking around unpleasant. If I rolled over funny in bed, or while sitting down, and my numb ankle didn't turn the way I wanted it to, I'd be rewarded with stabbing pains.
Physical therapy and stretching had a minimal benefit, but coupled with several layers of Dr. Hoys, I was able to start running again, and it wasn't uncomfortable every time I had to flex my ankle, stand on my toes or quickly change direction. Tendonitis is extremely painful on its worst days, and makes you stiff and numb on your best days, but Dr Hoy's allowed me to regain mobility without numbness and permitted me to continue athletics comfortably.
