Dragons are everywhere: if not in the real world but in the imagination of man; if not in the fossils unraveled by the paleontologists but in thousands of ancient texts which tell us about these mighty creatures. Perhaps there is no other creature of imagination that has so profoundly influenced human culture, society, art and the overall human civilization. The Dragon is equally prominent in the popular culture in the West and in the East. Fairy tales are incomplete without them and so are the many video games and movies that are being produced.

Western or Eastern Dragons?
There are two distinct cultural traditions in dragonlore. The western dragon has evolved from ancient Greek and middle eastern mythologies while the eastern dragon has its origin in the far eastern countries of China, Japan and Korea. While they are distinct in origin, tradition and looks, they both have had their fare share of cultural impact.
The fight might be won by any of the two but the point to debate here is which dragons do you like more? The fire breathing lizards of the West or the magical serpents of the East?
Both have their uniqueness, history and what in today's parlance we call "fan following" ;)
So fight it out!

Dragons have been portrayed through the ages in literature around the world. Dragons have been mentioned in ancient texts in Europe, China, India and many other places.
Two of the most famous dragons of old European literature are perhaps the one killed by Beowulf and Wiglaf in the Old English epic Beowulf and the one killed by the legendary King Arthur in Life of Euflamm.
Dragons have been time and again been mentioned in literature but with the rising popularity of fantasy literature in the 20th century, dragons have really created their
own place in modern literature.
