    Hi. Your picture with the cows reminds me of a drawing I did in 6th or 7th grade. It was a baby bison near a fence with a treeline in the distance. That was one of my favorite things ever to draw, and it was my first art contest submission outside of elementary school!

    You are very talented, and I enjoyed your sketches. I'll have to check your page again when I draw something with trees or do more nature sketches. Thanks for sharing! :)

    Wonderful indeed, drawing for me is an art form that some have, and others can be taught but those who teach it are truly blessed with this technique.

    Wonderful instructions, I must refer this lens to our woodland walking members.
  • jimmyworldstar Feb 1, 2012 @ 4:25 pm | delete
    I find the foliage the hardest part to depict. I think a good point to start out is with non accurate representations, at least in detail. If you get the general shape down, you can work your way up as you become more skilled.

    Great, Awesome! I too love to draw trees. It's been a while but this lens is inspiring me to get out my sketch pad! One of my favorite drawings from HS is long gone, done in Ink with "dots", I really loved it. It was a great exercise and I also learned how to "see" while drawing. Saving this lens for future Tree Drawing. You Have Been Blessed!

    Thank you for your commment. Sketching or drawing helps me to live the moment, just to look and see, it stops my otherwise busy thinking especially when I get's into the flow and forget about time and what is around. Yes it is relaxing and refreshing the mind.

    You have a wonderful collection of "How to draw" lenses. These have been very helpful to me.
    I have never thought of myself as ever being good at drawing and so I haven't done any for years.
    I remember how at peace I felt when I was drawing. This is why I want to have another go at it.

    This is great! I used to think that you had to have natural talent to draw and I don't have any. Then, in Santa Fe, I took a portrait class. Yes, faces!!! And you know what, I did it!

    So maybe I could draw trees too!
  • EditionH Nov 5, 2010 @ 1:49 am | delete

    Love your trees. Thanks for visiting my flower lens. Fraid I've forgotten your name. Are you still on Senior Squids. My daughter is a textiles artist you may like to take a look at some of her stuff. She is "meltedrachel"

    Hello Liz, I left Senior Squids when I thought I should not create more lenses (due to the Infolinks discussion I), then I joined another great group outside of Squidoo and now there is no time left for others. Do you know that your spirit is very encouraging for others?:). The works of your daughter are a hammer of inspiration..
    All the best Martin

    Hello Laraine, thank you very much for that wonderful poem. To be honest my drawing of trees is most of the time only an excuse for looking at them. Maybe drawing from life or nature is always that kind of excuse.
    My favorite Goethe quote is: "Thinking is more interesting than knowing, but less interesting than looking"
  • LaraineRose Aug 6, 2009 @ 12:21 am | delete
    Here's a poem to add to your lens if you'd like to add it.

    Joyce Kilmer. 1886-1918

    Trees

    I THINK that I shall never see
    A poem lovely as a tree.

    A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
    Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

    A tree that looks at God all day,
    And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

    A tree that may in summer wear
    A nest of robins in her hair;

    Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
    Who intimately lives with rain.

    Poems are made by fools like me,
    But only God can make a tree.

    I loved your lens. I have always loved drawing but painting .. not so much. I do charcoal drawing .. not of trees especially but with horses or other animals as the main focus. Still, we have to learn how to draw trees to have a complete picture. Great lens. 5*s
