Wiring your brain for happiness is the purpose behind my book.

Take a page and dwell in it. Color it. Sit with it. Own the message not just in your mind, but in your heart and your soul.

When I color the pictures, I will sit with them for at least 30 minutes. I say the quote over and over. I visit happy places with my imagination and feel satisfied with my life.

I spent 15 years on depression medications. I've been off of everything for the last five. I used to have days where I would think I needed medication again.

For the last year though, I have focused on cultivating my happiness. I have worked to plant the seeds and destroy the weeds and I am now able to harvest happy days.

Not that everything is perfect! But when I am sad or in a stressful situation, I can quickly come back to my true north of JOY!

I think it takes courage to choose happiness. In life, we find ourselves in situations that don't make us happy, and we choose to just exist in them and complain about them and just be stuck.

It is when we have the courage to find our happiness, whether it is work or family or health, that is when we see things change.

Sometimes baby steps towards something that makes you happy is all you can manage, but take pride in those steps because you are walking away from stagnation and fear.
