Drawing And Creating Monsters
Creating monsters is all in the imagination of your creative artwork, demonic creatures, horrific demon creatures and some damn good monsters.
I've been drawing fantasy creatures and genre stuff for years now and it's become a way of life, drawing lots of fantasy art concepts and ideas.
Learning how to tap into your monster creation abilities is the key to perfecting your artistic visions. Regular sketching sessions should help you realise and build your professionalism for your favourite art topics.
I have perfected my own designs in the area of demonic art and so I have evolved my art for some heavily influenced demonic tribal tattoo designs.
Monster creating can be done on many levels of art exploration, you could sculpt a monster out of clay or a halloween mask based on a latex mould, but all these types of things have to be designed and planned beforehand in draft sketches and preliminary thumbnail drawings and some of the best monster designs are created from these rough draft sketches.
As a kid I was always inspired by the old stop motion animation of great monsters in the classic films like, Sinbad and Jason and The Argonauts.
Ray Harryhausen perfected the art of stop motion animation to a T, this was obviously before computer animation or cgi and was my main fix of small screen fantasy that got me drawing and designing some great monster and creature designs.

Monsters are the stuff of nightmares or at least they should be, at the very least they should look scary and cool, I have been drawing for years and just love to draw dark creatures and nasty monsters.A lot of the classic monsters that have come before on films,tv and classic old films of the past are the main inspiration behind many of the creations that I draw today, but combined with my imagination these monster creatures become far more frightening.
If you have not noticed this is a Squidoo lens all about monsters and drawing them too, I like to think that I am an ok artist, not brilliant but a good artist that can recommend how to draw these dark and nasty creatures and so here we go...

Find Some Good Monster Action Figures and other figures
Getting inspired to draw more monsters is easy if you like to have some visual reference to draw a large part of inspiration from.
Action figures for me are a great reference and inspiring tool, especially the figures that are out now from McFarlane Toys and other toy lines, they really are top quality and hand painted to be more detailed than other factory produced action figure lines.
Having some on a desk in front of you whilst you are drawing is a good visual cue for more great monster and creature designs, it's sort of like having an art mannequin doll, but more tailored to your way of wanting to be inspired.
