How To Draw A Monster

To draw a monster is to draw a creature that is either scary or cartoony, whatever style that you draw a monster in, it's about technique and how you get that drawing down on paper for it to work as a good monster sketch, so when I draw a dark and horrible monster with eight heads and a big fat beer belly It has to be planned from a draft sketch that will be the basis of your monster idea.

Take the draft drawing in the illustration it shows the bare bones of the idea, something that can be laid out and improved upon later on although it was drawn with an ink pen and marked out with a HB pencil, I didn't have to think too hard about the overall design as I was just trying to sketch and see what happened as a result.

To draw a monster you have to have a good imagination but you can also look at other artists work and gain some ideas from them and it's getting these ideas down on paper that is the best idea, ideally you would want to plan your sketches first to try and make a good drawing. Drawing fantasy creatures of any size and shape can also be drawn from a mixture of real life animals that you could find photos on and try to draw bits and pieces of them and create totally original monsters out of.
