Vivid Night Life
"Dreams are illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you." .. Marsha Norman
If there is any truth to this rather lucid aphorism then my soul is in the process of writing a classic novel.
My dreams are so frequent that for the second or third time in my adult life I've decided to keep a log of my dreams. I'm not making this a private matter because your comments are welcome and if you care to try to interpret the meaning of a particular dream, by all means, do so.
Not only do I dream often, but I can have four to five different dreams nightly. I've actually dosed for five minutes and had a brief dream. Time is not a factor in my dreams just as time is not a factor in the Spirit world. Therefore, five minutes of dreaming appears to cover more time.
I've read a couple of books about dreaming and how to interpret them. However, dreams can be so vivid and bizarre, it's clear they are catered specifically for the individual. There are those dreams that are easily understood and common to most people, such as falling, getting lost, etc. The universal meaning behind getting lost is that your life is in disarray. This analysis appears to be true because as you pull your life together the dreams of getting loss cease. When you get a little disoriented, lazy, or myriad problems hit you at once, the dreams reoccur. You reach your destination in the "lost" dreams with no problem but cannot find the road that takes you back home. When you awake, you're so glad it was a dream because you thought you would be forever trying to find your way.
Then there are the really cool dreams, like winning a Ferrari. These dreams are bitter-sweet though, because they seem so real while you're dreaming. Then you wake up to the reality of the mini-van in the garage. But you have to let it go quickly and just be thankful for having dependable transportation.
And of course, there are the dreams of the sexual encounters. Unfortunately, these dreams seem to diminish with age and are based on your frequency or infrequency of being intimate. I'll leave that one right there.
So here we go on my nocturnal journey into dreamland and please do share your thoughts and dreams!

Dream Within A Dream
Previous dreams had been placed in chronological order, however the August 7th dream was so fascinatingly bizarre, it has to be the first on the list. This was a "dream within a dream."The characters in the first dream were mostly strangers with the exception of Condoleeza Rice (that's right, the former secretary of state Condoleeza). I suppose Ms. Rice entered my dream world because I've briefly written about her -- Successful Contemporary Women -- saw her in person at a book signing and found her to be rather attractive.
We're in this huge shopping mall that doubles as an office complex. During office hours, there are thousands of people in this huge edifice at any given time. The entire structure begins to crumble, layer by layer, section by section, in a domino fashion. Me and Consoleeza are walking through the complex when this begins to happen. We run with masses of people, trying to find an exit. We get to one area that looks to be an exit/entrance, the kind you would see in a Mall, with several glass doors. This large structure was bending, rolling and collapsing, as it would in a major earthquake. I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area when the Loma Prieta earthquake, or Quake of '89 hit. The "World Series Earthquake" (as it's also referred to) measured 6.9 on the Richter Scale. I was leaving McDonalds when it hit and actually witnessed the sidewalk rise up and roll. That's what occurred as we attempted to leave, the doors and the entire side of the building rose to a height that made it impossible. We ran to the next exit as the floors began to pancake and finally made it outside.
Sometime during our efforts to escape I had a vision that I didn't make it. The vision was not horrible, it simply indicated I had not survived, but here I was walking down the street with Condoleeza. We made it out of the building unscathed.
As Ms. Rice and I walked for a few minutes, discussing what our next move would be, we suddenly saw a towering inferno. There were no buildings or skyscrapers on fire, but it was a conflagration on the horizon that was quickly moving toward us. I thought, "this is the vision, this is why I did not see myself surviving." There was no place to run and the fire hastily engulfed both of us. There was no pain, it was very quick and I began to float as I left one dimension headed toward another. That is when I woke up from the first dream. However, in 'real-life' I was still asleep. This was the ending of the first 'dream within a dream'. I've had multiple dreams in one night but rarely do I go from one dream to the other without one coming to a conclusion.
I open my eyes and realize, "wow, what a dream." My eyes are focused on a window where I see a spinning vertical globe. I rub my eyes to clear them because maybe I'm not seeing very clear since I just woke up (in reality, still asleep). I realize that it's a reflection of a globe-like calendar that is spinning on the window.
My children are in the room. Evidently I've been sleep the entire day because they began to talk about a parade their mom took them to. Their mom would be my ex-wife of 12 years ago who resides in another state. However, as dreams go, the lady in my dream played the role of my ex-wife but in reality, she did not look anything like her and was even a different race. The character in my dream was fine though, I might add. Anyway, I wake up, my children are 15 and 16 years of age and are not particular toward parades. They appeared to be the same age in this second dream. They're talking about their day and in walks the ex-wife. She briefly ask me where I've been and I really can't explain the dream I just had. Because now it doesn't appear that it was a dream so I make the attempt to explain where I've been all day. She's not really concerned however, sits on the bed, and suggest that the four of us go out to a restaurant.
I'm looking at her and noticing the fact that, this is my ex-wife but there's something very different about her. She sits on the bed and I get a glimpse of her shapely figure as her skirt is slightly raised. My first thought was, "sure let's go out to eat but either before or afterwords, we need to get busy." Then I wake up to the real world, or at least this dream within my spiritual reality.
Most dreams are difficult to decipher but this particular, double-dream -- if you will -- left a strong message about the indestructibility of the soul. It also reinforces my strong belief that there is no such thing as death. We will lose these physical bodies that we use to manipulate and maneuver through the density of earth's atmosphere, and quickly move from this dimension to the next.
"Death is very beautiful. The trauma that has gone on before, that caused the physical death, is wiped out at the moment of death. The soul rises from the body and realizes it is an immortal being."

Today is my father's birth date. He's been deceased for 20 years and is rarely a part of my dreams. He was a good provider, a pretty good dad, however, as time has passed, I realize that he and I did not have a strong spiritual attachment and that may be why he appears so infrequently in my dreams.
I left Corporate America after 24 years with the same company so usually when my dreams are about the work environment many of my ex-coworkers are participants.
06/18/11 Dream # 1: I'm in the break room and low and behold my ex-wife is sitting at a table with her former best friend. She smiles as I approach and begins to speak about me getting in touch with a relative. I take down a number that she gives me. She then stands up and appears to be in the early stages of pregnancy (In reality she's past the child-birthing age and had her tubes tied 15 years ago. The majority of those who will read this Lens have no idea who I am and certainly don't know who my ex-wife is. Couple that with the fact that we've been divorced for 12 years, I think her identity is safe).
She's grandstanding a bit with the labor pains but looks as if she's in her first trimester. Her ostentatious display is actually a part of her true character so it was not surprising. Although part of me believed that she was actually not pregnant but could be dealing with some type of illness. I certainly wish her well and will include her in my prayers if that is the case. We do not reside in the same state and have not for several years. I do know why she was on my mind and why she entered my dream world. I will not disclose the reason.
06/18/11 Dream # 2: An ex-coworker who once was a very good friend of mine was on the verge of being more than a platonic friend. People were encouraging me to date her, to get involved with her. I was reluctant because I felt she had the strong tendency to go UP in weight. She had lost several pounds in the dream and looked really good. I wanted to make the attempt to get involved with her but just could not do it.
I had a couple more dreams on 06/18 but because I did not put them to paper within the first few minutes of awakening, they have been erased from my memory. I'm starting to realize that dreams tend to evaporate so fast because of our close connection to the spirit world while we are sleeping. When we wake up in the morning to a different reality, our spiritual selves or subconscious quickly moves into the background.

Hooping with Magic
This was one of those "feel good" dreams that was vivid but you sort of know you're dreaming. I was shooting hoops with Magic Johnson and Hakeem Olajawon, two former NBA stars and members of the Basketball Hall of Fame. The dream took place in my childhood home, in the backyard where we had a basketball goal on the garage.
I spent about 20 years living in the house on Baldwin Street. My formative years were spent there so that's probably why it is the setting and backdrop for many of my dreams.
The highlight of this dream was a move I made as the point guard on a team featuring Magic and Hakeem. I did a 360 spin move, in the air, then hung in the air for a few seconds and dished it to Magic for a layup. A sweet, Jordan-like move that, as I've entered my 5th decade on this earth, the chances of me executing a move like that now are slim and none, and "slim" is no where to be found. Even in my prime I could not pull off a move like that, but it was a sweet dream nonetheless.

In a workplace environment I accepted the task of going around taking notes of complaints. Whatever issue employees had I was to write it down on paper. Some people choice not to respond, others didn't respond at all. This was a situation that gave employees a chance to be heard as opposed to talking behind the backs of management as is often the case. When you're given a chance to air grievances some will clam up.
As I went around the rather large room I would misplace notes and would have to start over on a blank sheet of paper. There were two recognizable ex-co-workers in this dream. One male and one female. The female, who was in reality, very passive and generally nice, did not want to comment and vehemently said no. I told her that I only asked her once and she said that I'd asked her more than once and hit me on top of my head. I reacted by thinking, "you can't hit a woman, never put your hands on a woman," so I walked away. But I will say this, if I would have known I was dreaming I would have kicked her ass (LOL) because immediately after she hit me I had a feeling that I'm sure a lot of men have had when either struck or provoked by a woman, and I'm talking about the men who are NOT abusive. Deep down inside you want to retaliate but you realize that it's not the thing to do because you would end up with far more problems than you started with: (1) you're possibly going to jail, (2) It's bound to escalate further, and (3) you could cause serious injury because she's probably going to fight back and then you would find yourself in an actually fist-a-cuff with a female. Never a good thing, but if I know I'm dreaming, it's ON!
However, I do understand how that works. It's said that if a person is intoxicated, his personality expands to its greatest extreme. In other words, if he's an asshole, he becomes a bigger one when he is inebriated. If he's a peaceful individual chances are he won't become violent when he's drunk. That may or may not be true, but in the dream world (often a glimpse of the spirit world) if you're not an abuser in this life, you'll probably not be one in your dreams.

Working in the downtown area in what appears to be a large edifice that, from the inside, looks like the Bell South Towers. Just transferred from one department to another, in another location, working as a Communication Technician (a position I held the last 8 of my 24 years working for the phone company).
I don't have a badge so I'm maneuvering from floor to floor trying to evade the guards. When one of them notices that I do not have proper ID they send me to someone who gives me a temporary badge. This happens a couple of times in the dream.
Throughout the dream I'm unaware as to which department or which manager to report to. I come across a woman who is a combination of all the female managers I had when I actually worked for AT&T. She is attractive, with little to no personality, and a stone cold bitch (I did have a couple of female managers who were really cool). This person attempts to downgrade my position, which of course equates to a pay-cut. My response is that if you're going to demote me I may as well "retreat" (retreating was a term used that meant a person would go back to his previous job after a transfer).
The recognizable faces in the dream were two ex-coworkers, Ella, and the other I do not recall her name or face at this point. The other female helped me to find my way. She showed me where I would be working and who my new manager would be. We had this conversation while in bed. Nothing sexual, no intimacy, we just happened to be in bed, across the mezzanine from where my new co-workers and boss were having a meeting. She got dressed and walked over to the meeting. By the way, no one appeared surprised that we were in bed together. The others, including my new boss, encouraged me to join them. I got up and started dressing rather slowly because I really did not want to attend the meeting. As in this life, when I worked in corporate America, I despised meetings.
After I'm dressed, Ella comes over and we began to talk. Ella was an ex-coworker and good friend of mine. She looks just like she did 10-15 years ago except she appears to be in her early 30's and she looks quite attractive. Today, Ella would be somewhere between 60 and 70 years of age.
If you've dreamed of a close friend or loved one, he or she always looks young, vibrant, and always smiling. This occurs for two reasons:
Ella tells me he works during the day, also for the phone company, repairing PlayStation 3's. For some reason I'm excited about this and I ask him how I could do the same thing. He then tells me that he spends the rest of his time "finding his way out of the forest."
The dream ends there, I wake up, it's about 6:45am. It's now 8:27am and I'm starting another article entitled, "Finding my way out of the Forest."
