The Meaning of Your Dreams
We all dream. We usually dream about one-fifth of the time we're sleeping, although most of us forget our dreams. Most of our dreams come during Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, are are filled with symbols, dialogue, and detailed scenery.
Lucid dreaming is a type of dreaming when the dreamer is said to have access to all the thoughts and functions of being awake, and may feel no difference between being asleep and being awake. The most important part of lucid dreaming is that the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming.
Dream interpretation starts with the understanding of the four levels of the mind based on the theories of Freud and Jung. The conscious mind - governed by the ego, the preconscious mind - facts, memories, ideas, and motives, the personal unconscious - half-forgotten memories, repressed traumas and emotions, and unacknowledged motives and urges, and the collective unconscious - a mental resevoir of ideas, symbols, and themes that form many of the world's myths, legends, and religious systems.
Some common dreams are:
dreams of being chased - usually means you will have an unpleasant encounter with a business opponent, or that you are threatened with a law suit.
dreams of wind - soft blowing wind blowy sadly upon you signifies you will receive a fortune through bereavement; if you are walking briskly against the wind, you will courageously resist temptation and pursue something with determination.
dreams of an old house - if you dream you are visiting your old home, it means you will be receivng good news; dreaming of your old home in a dilapidated state indicates a warning about the sickness or death of a relative.
dreaming of a picnic - Eating in the openair usually represents a desire for naturalness and simplicity, and for an escape from convention.
dreaming you are flying - Flying dreams are usually pleasant and the sense of freedom and exultation conveyed often open the dreamer's imagination to the infinite possibilites of life.
These are just a few of the many dreams and interpretations available. There are numerous books, videos, encyclopdias and websites on the subject of dream interpretation.

Dream interpretation is the process of assigning meaning to dreams. In many of the ancient societies, including Egypt and Greece, dreaming was considered a supernatural communication or a means of divine intervention, whose message could be unravelled by those with certain powers. Dream Interpretation - What Are Dreams?
There is an enhanced curiosity about dreams and dream interpretation. Before we have an understanding of dream interpretation, we should know what are dreams and how and why we dream. A dream can be defined as a thought or a sequence ofthoughts that occurs to a person during sleep.
Experts believe that a dream is more or less a visual representation of our personal conceptions, unfulfilled desires and beliefs.
Types of Dreams
Any study about dream interpretation would be incomplete without knowing about dream types. Our dreams can be classified into two categories. The first type of dreams is the one experienced due to mind and body. The second types of dreams are the
manifestation of spiritual and supernatural factors.
The first type of dreams originates from your body and hence indicates your physical and psychological well-being.
The second type of dream with mystical characters can help your spiritual development. Therefore, classifying and identifying dreams can help make dream interpretation more effective.
How dreams happen:
While we sleep, all five senses - smell, taste, touch, sight and hearing, remain temporarily suspended from their normal activity. It is during your sleep that the sixth sense takes over and starts unfolding parts of your life and thus you enter into a dream state.
Why dreams happen:
There are several reasons that trigger the dream state. Food, health, psychology etc.
Various components that are responsible for each dream category are given below:
Type-1 dreams:
Food: After having a sumptuous meal, a person is more prone to entering a dream state.
Health: All your activities and actions relating to your lifestyle remain embedded in your subconscious. Your sub-conscious knows a lot and in dreams tries to make you aware in various ways.
Psychology: Stressful life puts a man out of proportion and triggers the dream state unknowingly.
Type-2 dreams:
This type of dream is seen quite rarely and not based on any physical factor. They carry a message possibly from the outer world and make you feel that something special has happened - a message that leaves an unforgettable impression on your sub-
conscious mind.
