Checklist To Getting Started
- Purchase, borrow, (or dig out your forgotten copy), and read, 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron. Engage in the excercises. Trust in the process. You will become more productive than you ever thought possible (not only in artistic endeavers). This is the best orientation to living in your passion for any art!
- Compare and choose between acrylic or oil base paint. We will discuss the pro's and con's of both mediums and you only need to choose to get started. After you are comfortable and assured that painting is what you want to do, you can always try the one you didn't choose this time.
- Gather your supplies: Instructional materials, paint and supplies, canvas, and a space to paint in (easel or drafting table).
- Practice.

- Thank you Jewelsofawe :D Welcome littlemisspiggy! :D Glad you are on Squidoo. I adore both of your lens work and appreciate that you have taken the time to visit my lens.
I love to paint. I have recently been doing most of my artwork with GIMP but, when I do paint, I use acrylic paints on canvas and I believe I do that because I like the easy clean up (water base)... however, I know that an oil painting is going to last a lot longer (so the trade off is my paintings are not going to survive the test of time as well).
Thanks again,
GypsyOwl
