30 Day Wardrobe Challenge

The Dresses & Skirts 30-Day Wardrobe Challenge

This is a challenge I created to experiment with how it feels to wear nothing but dresses and skirts. I want to become more clear about which dress and skirt styles I love "love me back" the most. My tentative plan is to start this challenge in July and I would love if it you joined me!

For this 30-day wardrobe challenge, you choose no more than 15 items (dresses & skirts but no pants) & wear only them for 30 days. Cardigans, jackets, blazers and shirts do not count & can be add-ons when creating your outfits. Choose dresses that honor your Dressing Your Truth type.

Inspired by the 15:30 30-Day Wardrobe Challenge

This challenge is inspired by the 15:30 wardrobe challenge and "The Perfect Wardrobe Builder", an article by Shirley Borelli, an image consultant who suggests 2 cardigans or jackets, 5 bottoms and then, 4 shirts for a total of 30 outfit possibilities.

Using her model as a guide, you could make the bottoms skirts and dresses. But then, I thought, what if cardigans and tops were unlimited? And what if there were 15 "bottoms"? You'd get to wear every one of them twice and have lots of freedom about how you accented them.

Want to join us? Let me know in the comments! We started on June 1st but you can join in anytime this month and post pics or blog posts.

My Last Day of Pants

Before the Dresses & Skirts Challenge Begins on June 1st

I wasn't sure which of my two favorite outfits to wear today, so I tried them both on to see which one I wanted to choose. I knew I would be running errands later and decided to pick the one I liked best to wear this afternoon.

Here's what I chose...

What would (or did, if you're joining me) you wear for your last day of pants?

My goal with 15 is so you can wear each dress or skirt at least twice. If you have fewer, you get to wear them more times, which is fine. The reason for the challenge, in general, is to figure out what works and what doesn't with your dresses and skirts. But also, to see where your dresses and skirts fit into your wardrobe by wearing them more than usual.

My Dresses & Skirts for June

(plus a few more I don't have or didn't take a picture of yet)

I will not be getting the coral tiered maxi skirt from J. Jill after all, but other than that, I think this is it. These are the dresses and skirts I have (above) and the ones on their way to me (below, except for the grey ~ just got it the other day.

"What I Wore" for this Capsule Wardrobe Challenge

Important!

What I Learned...

I don't like "dressing up!" so even when I have somewhere dressy to go, I am likely to be dressed more casually. And I don't like anything too cute or too frilly. For me, feminine has to be casual & natural. Not too "girly-girl." All of my outfits honored my dressing your truth type 2 guidelines, and most were kind to my body type, though some were more in love with me than others. I think I prefer some contrast & some of my "leasts" were because I was wearing brown on brown. What did you learn?

If I had my own dressmaker, this is the kind of dress I'd wear. I almost salivate while watching the Jane Austen movies! So part of my signature style is regency. What about you?

Say hello!

I'd love to know you were here :)

Thanks so much for coming to visit! Let me know if you're planning to join us in June.

you look adorable, what a pleasant lady in the neighborhood. This is a novel idea and you pulled it off nicely

Thank you! I found out after that that I was dressing in the wrong type and that accounted for some of those mistakes.

You have some nice lenses. You're inspiring me. I've got to do better. So I think I'm going to set up a collage on paper of what I need. What scares me is that I just found out I'm a type 4 and I have many white shirts and tee shirts. So I've got a lot of catching up to do. But you are an inspiration. I love your outfit on you. I have a type 2 secondary and have so many type 2 things in my wardrobe that I'll have to send out.

Hi Sandy! How cool that I am inspiring you!! Well, I know what you mean about needing to get rid of what doesn't go with your type. I had a bit of a collection myself. Let me know how it goes as you create your collage & add to your wardrobe.
