I have found, what i really believe, is the world's best dried fruit. And, it comes from Iran. Iran has a long history of horticulture as an esteemed art form. In ancient Persia kings recieved gifts of plants and fruits as a way to honor them. Also, for over 3,000 years persian gardens have always been a source of much study and inspiration, not for its practical uses, but as a source of spirituality and paradise. This focus and royal adherence to horticulture in Iran has led to what are some of the tastiest fruits and vegetables! They are grown on farms/gardens and are not produced by large companies, or gentically engineered. But, i must caveat, they are not organic either, well, a lot of them are not, because of the recent use of modern chemical pesticides (even when they are not necessary).

Ok, so other than the fact the Iran's fruit ROCKS why am i wanting to import from Iran? Well, i believe, and want to put into practical application in my own life, that people can make positive change through focusing on development. Imagine creating positive possibilities for cooperation in sustainable growth in a country deemed to be an "axis of evil"! To get into the sheer astonishment of supporting sustainable farming methods in IRAN from the US at this point in time, is just, too, well.. cool! It truly is putting into practical application our ideals of free and fair trade and a sustainable, cooperative, ecologically friendly world for all.

So much fruit is wasted in Iran. Post-harvest loss is a terrible problem there. It is 6 times above that of the world's average. Considering that Iran is one of the top 10 horitcultural producers, those numbers add up to tons and tons of wasted rotting fruit! How terrible! Recently, springs of mafia style produce buyers expoiting those farmers are really threatening the quality of what has taken 3000 years to perfect. This time honored and beautiful tradition of Iranian horticulture is silently falling victim. Even though there is so much oil wealth in Iran, there is so much corruption, as there is in so many resource rich countries, that the proper system is not in place to address their needs.

As Elanor Roosevelt says,to rather light a candle then curse the darkness, well. This is dried fruit business is one way for me to do so. I do hope you would be interested in assisting.
