Windswept Driftwood Art

This exquisite driftwood cabinet, is the epitome of fantasy furniture. It is reminiscent of the Hogwarts Potions Chest wherein they used odd ingredients in their Hogwarts potion making and each drawer is artfully inscribed with the potion making ingredients.

This driftwood art fantasy cabinet is made entirely from Oak and Mahogany driftwood, washed up on the beaches of Cuckmere Haven.

Cassian Garbett, the artisan, writes: "Inspired by the 'CHAMBER OF SECRETS' the cabinet contains a hidden mechanism to spring the central panel which reveals the chamber within."

Ingrid's fascination with natural materials, such as rocks and driftwood, has recently led to some new and fanciful creations. She does wildlife paintings on quarry stone and elaborately painted sculptures on driftwood.
Living on a lake in Eastern Ontario, Canada, provides Ingrid with a treasure trove of driftwood, that she harvests by canoe.
Her creations can be displayed both as garden/patio art or as indoor sculptures.

She will be selling some of her driftwood art at the Bancroft Studio Tour this Fall.

Here is the "Tree of Life", which includes a Blue Heron, a leaping Fox, two different Snakes, a Lizard and a Mountain Goat, all coming out of one tree trunk.

Their furniture is made from the unusual shapes of sun-bleached driftwood collected in the Shuswap Lake area of British Columbia, Canada.

Rhythm 'n Bones

Inspired by the natural forms of the wood, evoking mood, whimsy, movement and personality. Each piece is only reproducible in terms of style. These are one-of-a-kind functional works of Driftwood Art. All of the work is finished with shellac, water-based varnish, and beeswax. Earth pigments are used to create contrast and to harmonize the colors of the woods.

The bench is made out of Cedar Root Driftwood.

The clay is a two part epoxy that is adhered and blended into the surface of the wood to form faces and details.

Most of the wood is left in its natural state, allowing the shape and texture of the driftwood to guide the creation of each driftwood sculpture. Some pieces are exquisitely painted and others are left unpainted, or a combination of both.
