Pepper Game Baseball Drill

How to do a Pepper Game Baseball Drill

The purpose of a pepper game baseball drill is to develop bat control and short, quick swings. The drill requires one hitter and up to 4 fielders.

Have three or four fielders line up next to each other.

Have the fielders position themselves two feet apart.

Have the hitter stand in front of the fielders about 22 feet away.

Have the hitter hit the ball to the fielders using a short, quick, downward stroke.

When the fielder catches the ball, they toss the ball quickly back to the hitter. The toss back should be about half the speed of a fast pitch.

The hitter then hits the ball where it is pitched by the fielder.

The hitter should hit the inside pitches to the fielder on their left, the middle pitches to the fielder directly in front of them, and the outside pitches to the fielder to the right.

To make this drill more difficult, use two baseballs a once. Using two baseballs at once will keep the hitter constantly ready to swing and keep the fielders always heads-up.

My father gave me a bat for Christmas. The first time I tried to play with it, it flew away.

Baseball Tee Drill

How to do a Baseball Tee Drill

Hitting a baseball is one of the hardest skills to perform in all of sports. A baseball tee drill is a hitting drill used to develop a smooth, compact swing, and to develop a proper follow through.

Pair up the players. One player will place the baseball on the batting tee while the other player hits the ball off the tee.

Place the batting tee in front of home plate.

Have the hitter take a normal stance at home plate.

Have another player place the ball on the tee.

Once the player is in a safe position and away from the batting tee, have the hitter hit the ball off the batting tee. Repeat a few times.

Move the tee to different areas in front of the plate to help the hitters practice hitting inside, middle, and outside pitches.

Raise the tee to different heights to give hitters practice hitting high and low pitches.

You can use tennis balls in place of baseballs.

Baseball Base-Running Conditioning Drill

A baseball base-running conditioning drill is done to condition baseball players by having them run the bases in a game like situation.

The base runner sprints from home plate to first base as if the ball was hit as an infield ground ball. The base runner takes a lead at first and executes a delayed steal to second. The base runner takes a one-out lead from second and scores on a base hit.

From home plate, the base runner sprints to first base, rounding first base as if the ball was hit to the outfield. The base runner goes back to first base and, simulating a hit and run, takes a normal lead at first base and then runs to end up at third base. Simulating a fly ball, the runner tags up at third and then sprints home.

The runner runs all the bases simulating a home run.
