Learn Drills To Improve Your Backswing
Develop A Solid Backswing To Really See Improvement Fast!
Your backswing can go wrong when you do any one of three things. Simply use the shaft of a broken club to help you get your backswing on track and correct it.
1) Swaying back from your target causing you to lose power in your swing.
The Drill: Take the shaft of a broken club (or anything that can be substituted for one) and stick it into the ground outside your right leg. It should be angled along the plane of your foot, leg and knee. Take your backswing and check to see if your pushing the shaft back. Practice until you aren't moving it.
2) Reverse pivoting where you are stranding weight on your left leg and probably slicing the ball.
The Drill: Take the broken shaft and place it in the ground behind you. Angle the shaft so that it is touching the inside of your right thigh. Take your backswing and check to see if your pushing the shaft forward. Practice until you aren't moving it.
3) Straight right leg which will cause you to hit the ball thin.
The Drill: Take the broken shaft and place it in the ground behind you. Angle the shaft so that it is touches the back of your right knee. Take your backswing and check to see if your pushing the shaft upward. Practice until you aren't moving it.

Drills To Improve Your Golf Swing - Syncing Your Backswing
Sync Your Arm Swing With Body Turn
When your arms are moving faster than your body turn it can cause you to swing off plane. You start to spray shots and you lose consistency and confidence. You want to bring your left arm firmly across your chest when you reach the top of your backswing so that you can maintain your swing plane.
The Drill: Place a clubhead cover or glove under your left armpit. Make your backswing without the glove falling to the ground. You will feel like you are losing power in your swing but you will compensate for this by contacting the ball solidly.

Drills To Improve Your Golf Swing - Controlled Turn
Keep Control Of Your Backswing Coil With This Simple Drill
If you are overturning in your backswing you will experience control issues in your downswing. You want your backswing to stop at your unique natural point (how far you can turn your left shoulder).
The Drill:
1) Get into your address position. Put your left hand under your right arm above the elbow.
2) Make your backswing while keeping your left hand firmly against the right arm through the whole backswing. You will feel your left shoulder tighten at the top.
3) Stop when you can't turn any further. This is your control point where you are loaded and ready to start your downswing. Remember it! Anything beyond this point is overturn and will cause you to lose control.
