Tea as a medicine and the demise of natural health supplements
The new tendency with tea as a medicine is that its antioxidants and flavonoid properties have proven to be reliable, and while not the end-all of natural health supplements, it's definitely a way to escape from pills and their prescriptions in some cases.
The great issue that natural health supplements never could sort, and that was ultimately their demise, was the fact that its effects were diverse, depending on each person, and for that very reason, it couldn't be a reliable source.
What would work for a person with flu would cause allergy to the other, for example, as there have been serious questioning on the encapsulation method, and thus we have seen the global discredit of natural supplements as a reliable alternative medicine.

tea bag against toothache
remedies for a toothache
Forget ibuprofen, advil, or forget pain killers entirely. The best single home remedy for a toothache is placing a tea bag, preferably Linden or Chamomille, on the affected zone and let it act as a patch, for a around 30 minutes or an hour. The pain will go away as if nothing. The same can be said for the pain of a tooth extraction. After the appointment with the dentist, a tea bag patch will act better than any painkiller you've known.
A tea for headache: Chamomile
remedy for headache
A warm cup of chamomile tea will soothe away any headache or migraine, not to mention how alleviating and relaxing it is for the soul. Ginger Tea
ginger tea benefits
Ginger tea has proven to be THE effective remedy for colds and flu. Forget those dreaded Equinaccea pills or similar! You can save a lot of money by buying Ginger root at your local market/supermarket, peel it and cut it in tiny pieces or layers, and boil it with water to make this simple, yet potent infusion that will eliminate throat pain right away, as well as giving you a boost of energy.
Black tea
The most common type of tea in the world, along with green tea, it can act as a perfect substitute of the caffeine in coffee, though it is still argueable that it is just as effective. But it is definitely less toxic. This is the most oxidized variety of tea, thus it is the one with the most caffeine. Made from the chamelia tea plant, it is also being researched as a helper for cardiovascular disease. It's been found that long-term drinking of black tea actually reverses something called endothelial vasomotor dysfunction in patients with coronary artery disease, according to a 2001 study by Boston University.
Other studies suggest that components extracted from black tea were more effective at slowing the absorption of blood sugar, thus a lower incidence of diabetes.
Green tea
benefits of green tea
We are barely beginning to grasp the true benefits of this variety of tea. It is common to believe that it is the perfect tea to lose weight, yet recent studies show that it accelerates the metabolism by 4% and burns cholesterol, as well as helping with digestion.Truth is that the majority of teas can help you lose weight if you consume them regularly, because they act as cleansers of the body, aside from the individual properties each variety has.
Green tea has proven to be perfect against depression and as a helper for people with heart diseases and cancer patients. Originated in China, and consumed for centuries in Japan and all of Asia, no wonder it is a favorite to soothe the stress and weight of every hard working day.
Research is still being conducted about the antioxidant properties of green tea that presumably can regulate and inhibit cancer expansion through the killing of cells that are growing inappropriately.

Mint tea
spearmint tea and hirsutism
it has been discovered that long-term consumption of mint tea can alleviate a hormonal condition in women called hirsutism, in which women have unwanted growth of thick vellum on the face, breasts, legs and other parts of the body, due to high secretion of the male hormone, androgen.Just take two cups of mint tea a day, and you will start noticing a significant difference in two weeks. The results can be seen completely in a lapse of six months of regular consumption.
White tea
With a delicate smell and silky flavor, it is the variety with the most amount of antioxidants. It is perfect for the strenghtening of the immune system, to fight viruses and bacteria. Also to fight the plaque that causes teeth decay. This type of tea was only exclusive to China and it is only recently that has been introduced in America and Europe, thus there is still research going on about what is the full scope of its properties. A 2000 study tested four white tea varieties (Silver Needle, Flowery Pekoe, Mutan White, and Exotica China White), and it was concluded that white tea can hinder DNA mutations that can be potentially cancer-inducing changes.
Along with Green and Black tea, it can potentially be a helper for heart diseases too.

Linden tea
With a very characteristic and strong scent, Linden tea is known as a natural sedative that helps you regulate your sleep, and help with anxiety. But it can also help with colds/ the flu, and headaches, especially when blended with chamomile tea.
It can help clean toxins from your body, and given that it can induce perspiration and sweating, it can cool down a fever.
It can also combat indigestion and diarrhea.
Red tea
red tea benefits
This variety is mostly known as a cleanser of free radicals, thus preventing premature aging and it strenghtens the natural defenses of your body. One great advantage is that it is completely caffeine free.
Few people know that it is perfect for ashtma, cases of allergies and hay fever.
It has been marketed as a weight loss remedy, given that it can control your appetite and iron absorption, but I see it as more of a nutrient, because it contains potassium, copper, and it is a supply of calcium, manganese, zinc and alpha hydroxil.
