How To Fight And Win The Battle Against High Gas Prices
But what can we do? Oil prices continue to skyrocket as the dollar continues it's decline against the euro. Refinery strikes in the middle east are out of our control. Boycotts against the major oil companies have proven useless in the past. Is there really anything we can do to win this battle?
We may not win the war, but we can win a few battles. Each battle we win will keep a few extra dollars in our pockets.
To begin with, let's look at a few common sense things we can do. If you live close enough to your local market why not try walking or riding a bicycle to do your light shopping. Not only will you save gas you'll also feel better. You may even shed a few pounds! If walking or bicycling is not an option for you try to consolidate all your shopping into one trip each week. Put off shopping for minor things that could wait for your next scheduled trip. Many of us are in the habit of jumping in the car each time we need one or two items. Make a list before you leave the house. Try to include everything you anticipate needing for at least one complete week in advance. Plan even further out if possible.
Another tip that is often overlooked is your car's condition! Maintaining your car's air filter and tire pressure will assure top performance and mileage. A dirty air filter can decrease mileage by 3 to 5%. Low air pressure in your tires could cost you as much as a 10% decrease in gas mileage. When yo purchase gasoline make sure you get the gas cap on tight. Vaporization from a loose fitting gas cap is simply a waste of gasoline.
If you can afford to trade in your car, look for a hybrid or at least a smaller version of what you now have. Hybrids are expensive, but may become necessary if we can't win our fight against high gas prices.
You may want to explore one of the hottest things on the internet and that is how to Run Your Car On Water. They are do it yourself plans that allow you to attach a small conversion kit to your car making it possible to use water and gas as an alternative fuel source. Many of the ads claim as much as a 200% increase in mileage. While those claims may be a bit of a stretch any increase will be a blessing. The conversion kits are safe for all types of cars and trucks and most of them come with a money back guarantee! With nothing to lose they are definately worth a try.
Fighting high gas prices doesn't have to be a full time battle. By using common sense, advance planning, and taking advantage of some scientific technology we acn definately win at least a few battles against high gas prices.
