The Dangers of Tailgating
If you thought I was talking about the last time I grilled burgers and drank beers outside Gillette Stadium, I apologize. Sadly, my life is not that exciting! I just needed to vent after an incident that occurred while I was driving my son to school today.
Has This Bothered You Before, Too?
Tailgaters Put Me in a Bad Mood
My son and I were driving down the road to his school this morning. A car from the opposite direction made a bold and unexpected decision to turn left and into my path. I had no choice but to brake rather abruptly. That's When I Heard....BEEEEEEEP!!!
That's when the lady who was tailgating me blared her horn and tried to pass me on the right. Only, she discovered why I had stopped, and she had to stop, too. After the car finished turning, I proceeded towards the school, while the woman behind tailgated and flailed her arms. Stuff for Your Car
20 mph School Zone
Respecting the Safety of Our Children
Obviously still in a rage, the woman started beeping again when I slowed to 20 mph in the school zone!I can't explain how much I wanted to give this woman a piece of my mind. I try to respect the rules of the road all the time, but especially in school zones! I have a child and don't want others speeding through areas where children abound. Cops Cite Speeders in School Zone Every Day
You Have to Be Pretty Foolish to Drive Fast Here
Also, there is a cop who sits on a nearby street. Every day, I see him cite drivers like this lady. Lucky for her when we drove past the cop, we were going 20 mph. If she had her way, she would have been presented with a hefty fine! Cool Car Decor

What I Wish I Could Say
I wrote this lens to vent, and in a sense, tell this lady off! Here (in a nicer way) is what I wanted to say to her:1. You beep and yell at me because I didn't crash into another vehicle? You've got some nerve!
2. I upset you because I didn't go 40 mph in a 20 mph zone with my son in the car, and you were in a rush? Tough!
3. You tailgate me (and I'm sure many others) because you're rude and think your life is more important than those of others? The audacity!
Rude Drivers
Where's the Respect These Days?
I really wish that people would practice better driving etiquette. I'm tired of selfish, get-out-of-my-way drivers who violate important rules of the road. I'm talking about rules that, if violated, can cause major accidents. Our families are on these roads every day. We should all care about each other's safety. Here are three driving violations that really tick me off!

Tailgating
1. Tailgating: When people tailgate and there is no safe place to pull aside to let them pass, it's really upsetting. Lots of drivers travel even slower when the car behind is tailgating. And if the lead car has to stop short because an animal runs across the street or any other unforeseen reason, there's going to be an accident, and you never know if children are in the car!! I wish people would just sit the appropriate amount of car lengths back and avoid unnecessary accidents. Rotary
2. Rotary: I live near a rotary, and too many drivers don't yield to the traffic already on the rotary. Not only do drivers fail to yield, they give you dirty looks because you were driving according to the rules! Oh, that makes me mad!! Beeping
3. Beeping: Beeping is necessary sometimes, but lots of times drivers use the horn in an extremely rude way. You know, that loud, extended beep? I've seen plenty of near-accidents where drivers are more focused on hitting their horn than avoiding the accident! Unless it's absolutely necessary, drivers should keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road! Not to mention, blaring your horn at someone is a great way to encourage road rage! Thanks for Reading My Story
Well, that's the end of my venting.
I know that some of you have experienced what I did today. To all the people who drive with courtesy and follow the most important driving rules -- thank you!!

- When you need to use the horn, a few short beeps are easier for the hearers to locate, and less likely to enrage.
I've taught my kids, and hence myself, to use other's bad driving to our advantage. Let the tailgater get ahead and clear the road for you, let the speeder be cop bait so you aren't stopped for a minor issue, etc.

- My Pet peeve on driving is when the other driver has to speed up to get in front of you when there was enough room to drop behind.
One day last month I was on the express way. I merged all the way to the right to take another express to get to my destination. The lane I was in was only one lane but splits into 2 lanes to take an interstate going North and the other going South. I had to take the one going South. As I merged into the South bound lane another drive felt that it was necessary to pull in front of me from my left because he was going to miss the interchange. I came inches from clipping his bumper because I didn't see him.
Another, What about when there are constructions that tell you 2 miles before only one lane is open and you must merge either left or right. I'll be sitting in traffic, just like everyone else and some other driver will fly by just to merge ahead of others.
Great Lens!

- well done! I've tried the stopping bit and the guy then proceeded to follow me and tried to run me off the road literaly. The cops had to be called because the guy in my opinion was crazy! It was a bad experience. My son was in my friends car that I was following to her house.
