Conquer Fear of Driving

It has been found that breathing deeply can be one way to really fight the stressful and anxious feelings towards your fear of driving. When you become afraid or frightened, you begin to take shallow breaths. This can cause your body to not get enough oxygen, which can add to the feelings of a panic attack.
Not enough oxygen to the brain can cause feelings such as being lightheaded, tingling and a feeling of being disconnected. When you are struggling with driving anxiety, you might find that by practicing some deep breathing exercises, you will begin to calm yourself and ease some of your physical symptoms.

It is thought that by focusing and making sure to take deep breaths, paying attention to how each breath calms you, you will begin to find that you feel calmer. You will also feel more centered, in many situations and especially when you get behind the wheel and face your fear of driving. Some times when you're using deep breathing as a form of calming an extreme driving anxiety, you might find that you do better to concentrate on this technique beforehand and sit in a completely quiet place where you can completely focus on your breathing and nothing else.
So try it to take control and overcome your fear of driving. You don't have to do anything really and it certainly is cheaper than medication. Just concentrate, take slow inhalations and focus on a state of calmness. For instance, if you are beginning to feel light headed or nausea, breathe deeply and slowly take notice of how your nausea will subside first and how your head will begin to emotionally balance itself regarding your situation. Once you learn this technique to calm yourself and your fear, you will find that it is helpful in many situations but very helpful in easing your driving anxiety.
