Keep Your Mind On Your Driving Not On Other Things

With so many distractions that effect people when they are driving it is a wonder there are not more accidents. While many people will say that they are a good driver and they don't get distracted this is simply not the truth. Even the best driver in the world will turn their heads to see a beautiful blonde in a bikini riding in a jeep. Or a well muscled man walking down the sidewalk shirtless. The point is that many people do get distracted and this is what leads to accidents. On this page we will go over a few things you can do to help lessen the distractions and help you to keep safe driving.

The first thing that any driver should do is to turn off their cell phone when they are driving. In a lot of states now it is actually illegal to use your phone when driving. Of course that doesn't stop people. A good way to avoid this is by turning the phone off as soon as you get in the car. Then when you get out of the car turn it back on. If you have any missed calls or messages you will get them so don't panic.

Overcome Fear of Driving

Not everyone gets angry and filled with rage when they're feeling stressed. Some people wind up feeling an intense amount of worry in the pit of their stomach when they're driving or stuck in traffic. They can't stop fidgeting and feeling nervous about what the outcome will be, some even fear a loss of control and panic.

Do you bite your nails when stress is seeping into your life? Do you get a bad case of insomnia whenever you're mired down in stress, unable to sleep because the situation keeps replaying itself in your mind? Does it manifest into anxiety about driving?

Food, Drink and Driving don't mix!

If you enjoy having the radio playing while you're driving, you should set it on one station and not constantly change channels. By taking your eyes off the road to change the channels, even if it is only for a couple seconds, can lead to an accident. One thing you can do is to get an mp3 player and add all your favorite songs to it then when you get in the car hook the mp3 player up and just let it play through all your favorite music.

One thing that is not illegal, but should be is people trying to eat when they are driving. While I know most people can eat a sub when they're driving without a problem. However what happens when the oil on the sub causes the meat and lettuce to slip out on to your lap. You start looking down, taking your one hand off the wheel in order to try and grab the mess and through it on the floor. Of course you forgot that in your other hand was the rest of the sub so now you don't even have any hands on the wheel. Eating and driving don't mix.

Lastly, there are two other things that have to stop happening in cars. The first thing is that women have to stop putting their makeup on when they are driving. Spend a few more minutes at home and get it done there. And men have to stop using their electric razors in the car. Again a few more minutes at home and you can take care of your shaving there. I understand that everyone is in a hurry these days, but if you think about it, you are not going to get to your location any faster if you end up getting pulled over for a ticket or even end up getting in to an accident so do these things at home.
