Driving! I'd much rather drive.

If I had no problems about time, I´d had no doubts: driving!! I love to drive, and I love to travel by car (so I have no problems of overluggage too!!!)
Lockerlover says:
Driving ftw
Lockerlover says:
I'd rather drive. Much easier.
Lockerlover says:
Driving is much better for me. No nasty airplane food and you wouldn't worry about crashing somewhere (most of the times).
Lockerlover says:
Well I'd rather drive 1. Costs less money 2. You can get better food at stores while driving instead of airplane food disgusting! Plus, if my mom told me I had to fly on a plane id just come out and just straight out say no! I'm scared of crashing all of a sudden. It's just airplanes scare me. Plz don't make fun of me.
sonnygone says:
It is refreshing to see the sights, pick your stops, and enjoy the culture along the way. That being said, having the time to do this is an essential ingredient.
erickam says:
I have a 6 hour driving circle. If I can drive it in 6 or fewer hours, it is a wash from the hassle of flying. But most of my travel is over the "pond" so I don;t get to drive that.

I am definitely more comfortable being on the road. I have nothing against flying, but definitely prefer driving.
papawu says:
I have traveled all over the country for the past 16 years and have always driven. It's not that I'm afraid of flying or anything, but I do definitely feel more comfortable being on the road.
roadroamer says:
Driving. I like being in control, I like staying on the ground, and I like seeing all of the little nuances and neighborhoods in between destinations. I'd much rather spend 2-3 times as long traveling and see more than jet across on a plane and miss everything on the ground. Driving all the way!
Flying! I'd rather not drive.
DestinationsHoliday says:
I love flying, but yet I would love to drive seeing landscapes up front. I enjoy new adventures. Flying is so easy as I would get to destinations a lot faster. I have done road trips so many times from Washington DC to California and back to DC.

So Which Is A More Eco Friendly Option, Driving or Flying?
Which is a more earth friendly way to travel?

If you think a road trip isn't an eco friendly option for the environment, you would be wrong. The amount of greenhouse gases generated during a typical flight across the entire country while driving is substantially less than flying. Add more passengers to the mix, and you'll lower the greenhouse gas emissions per person even more. If you are driving an inefficient vehicle, like a large SUV or truck, a plane would be more eco friendly. Using an energy efficient, high MPG car (like a Prius, small compact car, or hybrid) would lower the greenhouse gases even further.

Things That Make Driving More Comfortable
Make driving easier on you with these items
Flying isn't always the cheapest option for travel, especially when you have a family. The cost per person goes down the more people you add to the car. Also, keep in mind for flights you could need a rental car, added food costs of restaurants, and a little jet lag.
The Likelihood of Getting Into an Accident in an Airplane and in a Car
Dangers of flying vs the dangers of driving

Think driving is nowhere near as safe as flying? The Commercial Airlines industry would love to have you keep thinking that, but the statistics speak for themselves. It's difficult to provide direct data that reflects exactly how safe they are on a side by side comparison, but this website on driving and airline safety has some interesting information and stats. The results are surprising.

- I am a "very frequent traveller", and I travel both by plane and by car. I never get bored: when I am in a plane I can sleep, work with my pc or read, and when I´m in my car I love to sing (it´s the best place to do it... nobody else can hear you, and you´re not going to hurt anybody´s ears!!!!).
I only have problems with connections, when I travel by plane. My worst experience is linked to a night spent inside an airport, waiting for the morning flight....
