Motorola RAZR series returned, this time associated with the Droid brand and beating a world record: the thickness in 2011.

How good is Motorola Droid Razr?

This high end gadget is not only thin but also light, weighting 127 grams. Another aspect of the new RAZR is the rear housing, which features a layer of Kevlar, which protects the phone in contact with water and shock. Unfortunately, the rear chassis does not allow you to access the Droid RAZR battery .

The phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread using a Texas Instruments dual core processor 1.2 GHz and has already promised Android Ice Cream Sandwich in early 2012, in the form of update. Motorola RAZR Droid supports LTE 4G connectivity, but only in countries where operators offer such services. The device incorporates a 4.3 inch HD display based on AMOLED and Super Gorilla Glass protection against scratches.

The new RAZR uses 1 GB RAM, comes with an HDMI port, a very discreet slot for the SIM card and microSD card and some tiny volume buttons which are kind uncomfortable. Seen from profile, this device looks like Samsung Galaxy S II, which is a thin smartphone, very wide and with a bulge at the top, where the 8 megapixel camera stand. It is capable of 1080p video capture at 30 frames per second and comes with some interesting shooting options, such as Concert, the shooting in windy conditions and some effects to apply for your images. The phone also features Bluetooth 4.0, can be used as WiFi hotspot, comes with DLNA and has an impressive battery of 1780 mAh, which will provide about 12 continuous hours of talk time and about two to three days in normal operation.

Android operating system was customized by Motorola and is now featuring Home Special menus and 3D transitions which are highlighted by the elegant and powerful processor of the device. You have redesigned widgets, a convenient lock screen, which offers direct access to camera and some unique features for Motorola. Among them are Motoprint, which allows us to print documents wireless directly from phone, or Motocoast, with which we are streaming from PC to phone.

What I liked most and I found original is Smart Actions program which is a sort of programmable robot of this phone. Let me explain: for example, you can program the phone to hit play to a song when you get to a certain place on the map, or perform a certain action such as closing the GPS and many other combinations. Any action of the robot has a trigger effect. It is a very good automatic system for executing tasks, that's for sure.

Dual core processor and 1 GB RAM works very well, but still there will be times when you'll hit the lag. For that you have an effective task manager from Motorola, which will show you how much RAM softwares consumes and the processing power they eat, with the option to close the applications if you want.

The phone also has a social section, a widget to integrate your Twitter and Facebook. I appreciate a function of "social stalking", or so I like to call it. The Social Location presents all the super offers, open cafes, movies and concerts in your area. Bonus, you can see which of your friends participates. Thus, you can find out what cafe is open tonight at 21:00 and if you have 2-3 friends there. What can I say than, goodbye privacy.

Regarding the multimedia aspect, this smartphone has a very powerful speaker, so the audio playback is provided at the best level and can cover your voice if you talk while listening to music. And video playback does not look bad at all, because of the HD screen, which is a blessing and a curse. Curse for not being able to play HD games from Gameloft on this device, just like HTC Sensation.

Overall Motorola RAZR Droid has that appeal that will make a fan of the brand to buy it and do not regret for buying it. I also recommend it, this mobile being a must have smartphone.
