Dr Pepper Rocks!
One of the first soft drinks in the United States, Dr Pepper debuted in Waco, TX in 1885. I have never found a good way to describe what Dr Pepper tastes like, but I can assure you it not a cola and it is not prune juice.
You might notice that I don't put a period after the Dr in the Dr Pepper. While it's true that there used to be a dot after the doctor, as you can see from the picture of the bottle cap, a change in font in the 1950s forced the removal of the offending dot.

Debunking Dr Pepper Urban Legends
- I Pledge . . . .
- Snopes (best urban legend debunking site in the whole wide web) explains how Dr Pepper did not, in the aftermath of 9/11, produce a patriotic can of soda that left out the words "under God" from the pledge of allegiance. They produced a patriotic can of soda whose only non-soda words were "One Nation . . . Indivisible" along with an iconic image of the Statue of Liberty. If only they had used a comma instead of an ellipses (those three . . . dots), this probably would have been avoided. Punctuation counts, kids. Punctuation counts.
- No Prunes Here
- Snopes may not know what Dr Pepper contains, but they know what it doesn't contain - prunes.

I also recently found the OFFICIAL Dr Pepper Store, where you can get t-shirts, caps, gifts and decor (like a single ring barstool with swivel). Check it out here: Dr Pepper Store Front.
How much of your soda drinking is Dr Pepper drinking?
How well you tolerate other sodas.
Some people like Dr Pepper. Some people love Dr Pepper. Some people can't tell the difference between Mr Pibb and Dr Pepper (?!!?) and some people still insists it tastes like prunes. Some people drink cola instead.

A Dr Pepper Place to Visit
The Dr Pepper Museum
I haven't been here yet, because I have never been to Waco, but I'd like to go.The Dr Pepper Museum is 18,500 square feet and offers three floors of exhibits. There is a scaled recreation of the Old Corner Drugstore (where Dr Pepper was first mixed) complete with a talking animatron of Doc Alderton (Dr Pepper creator). Bottling equipment, containers, and an interior artesian well are also featured, along with 25 years of Dr Pepper commercials. Other exhibits include soft drink marketing and advertising campaigns, as well as a recreation of a 1930s country store.

- Okay, I think the universe is trying to get me to start drinking Dr Pepper. First, I'm watching the BCS National Championship football game last Monday and see a GREAT commercial for Dr Pepper. It's so good I text a friend of mine who I know is watching the game to see if he saw the commerical. He did...he texted me back that it made him want to run to the store to get some Dr Pepper. Secondly, I find this lens about Dr Pepper. Before reading it, I go to the kitchen to get something to drink. I drink Diet Coke. I discover I'm out of Diet Coke. But, wait! There are some of my sister-in-law's Dr Peppers in the fridge. I get one and come back to read this lens. And then I find out all of these delightful tidbits about Dr Pepper while I'm enjoying a refreshing can of the stuff. The result of all of this: I would like to be a Pepper, too.

I'm a Pepper
I love Dr Pepper; it's the best. When I tried to find a lens on it, none existed. I thought to myself, "How is that possible? That's just wrong. I must remedy the situation immediately."

I'm not a cola drinker; I don't need a taste test. When I drink soda, it is almost always Dr Pepper. If there's no Dr Pepper, there's no party. (That's... more »
