Flickr for Photography, Archiving and Display!

I first discovered Flickr in 2005, on arrival in China. There it was, a new platform that allowed you to upload up to 10 Mb of images monthly for FREE! Who could refuse that? After a while, it became tedious downsizing images before upload, to squeeze into my quota. A Pro account was well and truly justified, so I upgraded. My use of Flickr soared as did the number of photos I took every month. This was particularly evident after purchasing my first digital camera, a Sony DSC-W5, on September 11th, 2005, and even more so when I upgraded this to a Sony DSC-V3 on January 29th, 2006.

drs2biz on Flickr Despite Yahoo Ownership, not Because Of It

Since Yahoo! took over Flickr in March, 2005, not much has really changed. Sure the site gets bogged down sometimes, and images are very slow to load. They probably failed to upgrade servers as the traffic increased. Big corporates will do that, just to save a few bucks! It's definitely not the same 'Classic Flickr', but this is one platform that has been pretty much left alone. I'll stay with it until it becomes unbearable.
