Dr Seuss Books
Dr Seuss wrote and illustrated a large collection of books for children in his lifetime and wrote a number of others that were illustrated by other artists. Many of the books in the Dr Seuss collection have been family favourites for a few generations now with their popularity remaining high. Books such as Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, How The Grinch stole Christmas and Horton Hears a Who are household names because of their wild imaginative illustrations and themes along with enjoyable rhyming text.
I hope you enjoy Dr Seuss's book collection as much as I still do.

And To Think I Saw It On Mulberry Street was Dr Seuss's first children's book and his wild imagination is evident right from the start. In this book a boy exaggerates the things he sees in Mulberry Street from the mundane to the incredible; a horse and cart becomes giraffes pulling a chariot and similar extrapolations of the truth based on a fertile imagination. Great fun.

Dr Seuss Hats
Many of Dr Seuss's characters have trademark hats and there are a number of Dr Seuss-themed hats available to buy. These hats are quite ridiculous, in many cases, and reflect the fun of Dr Seuss's world.

Horton Hears A Who is the charming story of the caring elephant, Horton, taking responsibility for the tiny Who community that only he seems to be able to hear; this puts him at a disadvantage as everyone else thinks he is imagining things. Horton's quote, " a person's a person no matter how small" is one of the most memorable of all Dr Seuss quotes.

Green Eggs And Ham - Published in 1960

Green Eggs And Ham (I Can Read It All By Myself Beginner Books)
by Dr Seuss
Amazon Price: $8.99
Green Eggs and Ham is perhaps Dr Seuss's most-loved book and is the story that was read by the Reverend Jesse Jackson as a tribute to Dr Seuss on the author's death.
This is the story of how Sam-I-Am eventually manages to persuade an unadventurous eater to try the strange meal of Green Eggs and Ham with the help of a fox, a mouse, a goat, a boat, a train, a box a house amongst other things.
This is my favourite Dr Seuss book and if you only ever read one of his stories, make it this one.

Fox In Socks

Fox In Socks is a really fun book to read out loud with children as it follows the annoying, tongue-twisting Fox who pesters Mr Knox with his wordtabulousness. The tongue-twisters get increasingly complex and ridiculous, but increasingly funny to the reader and more and more annoying to Mr Knox. This is one of Dr Seuss's most delightful books.

In this book Dr Seuss writes an Odessy-like tale about a youngster who attempts to escape his troubles by heading to the fairytale city of Solla Sollew, "where they never have troubles, at least very few". This wonderfully rhyming tale sees the storyteller taken advantage of by some people along the way and ultimately his journey is a waste of time and he goes back to confront his problems.

This is an amusing Dr Seuss book that heavily features wordplay, one of Seuss's trademark styles. In Wocket In My Pocket a small boy describes the curious creatures that live in various places around his house. I particularly like the Nooth Grush in the toothbrush although it is a shame that the Vug under the rug has been removed from modern prints as it was deemed too scary!!!!!
