- When I was in high school, my favorite drummer was (and still is) Joe Morello. He played with the Dave Brubeck Quartet. I went to a summer band camp, and was able to take some lessons, so I signed up. The assigned a guy named Jim Sewry to be my instructor, and the first thing he said to mas, "I teach the Joe Morello method. I was in heaven! And from then on, people always asked where I learned to use my left hand that "funny" way. But it worked!
