Want to Know What Happens to Your Skin When You Swim for Ages in the Pool?

Give Me A Break - I Want to Stop My Dry Itchy Skin

I can't stand it any longer what is happening to my skin...?

Water removes the thin layer of surface oil on your skin that locks in the moisture. This oil is called sebum. Sebum lubricates and protects your skin. It also makes your skin a bit water proof.

If that is the case why don't we get dry itchy skin when we take a shower or wash our hands? As we are only in the water for a short period of time the sebum protects the skin and the water beads off.

What happens when we spend a long time in the water? When the natural oil is stripped from the outer layer of skin the water leaves the outer layer of skin, leaving the skin dry, irritated and itchy. The deep layers of skin are then exposed to the chlorine, resulting in more dry, irritated, itchy skin. Your skin will become chapped, cracked and damaged YUCK!!

So... what happens when we spend a long time in the water? There is only a particular amount of sebum

Tips on Dry Skin Prevention

Dry skin prevention well how do we do this? Great question!

Hand and skin lotion only provide temporary relief and do little to heal and repair the skin. So what about putting something on your skin, to protect your skin befor you jump into the water and slog away for hours at a time.

What about a product which locks in the moisture? Well after all my research and through trial and error I have developed a product called Swimmer's Skin. Swimmer's Skin bonds with the outer layer of skin and hleps to reduce the water loss and acts like the sebum on your skin.

    Hi Nicole

You have recently applied to become a member of the SUMMER Group.

Thank you for your interest in the group and for submitting your lens. I have examined it and it qualifies for the Group. In order to be eligible for acceptance I am asking something from new lensmasters, though.

So here is your transition process becoming a SUMMER Group member:

    1. Show me you have been there by making your entry for the May/June Giveaway in the group`s guestbook: nominate your favorite lens made by a woman lensmaster before June 15. This will give you a double chance to win: 1 - you might win a spot in the group for your lens and 2 - you might win that 50$ Gift Card!

    2. Subscribe to our SUMMER Newsletter: mailto:subscribe.summer@power.ms (If you hate it you can unsubscribe any time after you received and read your first edition).

If you don't really care to become a member just do nothing.
