The Dubliners - a Famous Irish Folk Band
Ranked #9,843 in Music, #268,515 overall
The Band who made Irish Folk Famous
The Dubliners formed in 1962, and the band still exists. It still tours Europe every year. However there are only two musicians left who played from the beginning - Barney McKenna and John Sheahan.
They sing and play traditional Irish Folk songs: Songs about the fights of Irish men against the British oppression, songs about people living in Dublin, songs about whiskey and beer and songs about pretty women.
I am presenting a selection of those songs here in this lens, songs I love to listen to, tap my feet to, sing to and even dance to. Enjoy!

Political Songs
The Dubliners sang quite a lot of "political" songs - songs which described Ireland's wish to become a free and independant nation. The Easter rising was an insurrection staged in Ireland during Easter Week, 1916. The Rising was mounted by Irish republicans with the aims of ending British rule in Ireland and establishing the Irish Republic. It was the most significant uprising in Ireland since the rebellion of 1798.

- Love it! There is nothing quite so satisfying as singing along to drinking and dying songs with a pint in hand!

- I don't quite remember the Dubliners in 1962 but there have been one of my favourites for many years. Great showcase for the band.
