Duck - duct tape history is actually quite fascinating. Duct tape was actually invented by the Johnson and Johnson company way back around 1942. There was a need for a waterproof tape for sealing canisters and for repairing cracks and gaps in machinery and vehicles during World War II. The Johnson and Johnson company took on the task of designing just such a tape.

Johnson and Johnson produced their heavy water repellant tape by basically combining medical tape, cloth, a polycoat adhesive, and a polyethylene coating to bind it. (Of course there was a bit more to it than just that but we'll just keep things simple here.) Johnson and Johnson company's new adhesive product was the very first duct tape produced, and because it repelled water much alike a duck's feathers, this tape was appropriately nicknamed Duck Tape. Because duck tape was originally created for use during World War II this first duct tape was produced in a green color.

It was after the war ended, and people began to use this heavyweight army tape to hold their ducts together that the now common silver color was given to duct tape. It is also when the now trade mark name DUCT TAPE was added to this new silver duct tape. A funny little bit of trivia is that duct tape is actually not recommended to be used on ducts. Huh?

In 2001 Duck the makers of Duck brand duct tape began a yearly "Stuck at Prom" promotional scholarship contest for students. Duck offers quite nice cash scholarship prizes for the winning entries.

All you really need for all your household needs are two things, WD30, and duct tape. If it won't move, but it should, then use the WD30. If it moves, and it shouldn't, then use the duct tape.
