Perhaps this might just be the reason why -- the unbecoming name -- we do not hear about nor do we see conventional mermaids performing or hanging out in the Mooloolaba Underwater World aquarium.

    Hah hah I just noticed in my flickr photos, there is a photo of what looks like fried sea cow but it's not, it's fish served at the Sea Cow restaurant. Thank you for commenting Elizabeth.
