Driving drunk is the wrong decision.

The purpose of this lens is to provide a place for reflection on an epidemic that plagues society.  Drunk driving leads to death, injury, fines, long hours of community service, alcohol class and overall grief and disgust for anyone associated with a DUI/DWAI.

If you've received a DUI, don't let yourself believe that you can't change your life for the better.  There's always a way to make up for even the worst mistakes.  Give yourself a chance and read this webpage, and you'll see that a DUI can be reconciled.

First Hand DUI

My terrible decision....

Thanksgiving Night 2003, I was hanging out with an old friend from high school. We had 4 or 5 shots of Jaeger before we went to see a movie. I drove to the movie tipsy but we made it alright. We didn't stop drinking though and ended up sneaking the rest of the Jaeger in to the movie. After another 3 or 4 more shots . I drove back to my buddies house thinking that I would stay there for the night and sleep off my drunkeness, but when we got back my "buddy" told me that I couldn't stay, I said "No big deal" figuring I had already gotten away with driving drunk to the movie and back, so I went on my way. I was getting tired from all the drinks so I rushed home. The alcohol started to really set in, until I found myself going 90 on a 65. By the time I noticed and slowed down, a cop was barreling down on me. The rest is DWAI history. $5,000 and 30 community service hours and 25 hours alcohol class later, I LEARNED MY LESSON. If you have to sleep in your car, sleep on a bench, stay at a hotel, call a cab, call your mom for a ride, DO IT. Don't think you'll get away with it one more time because as soon as you realize you've made a serious mistake, it's already too late to take back your decision. Please just take a deep breath and realize just how important your life is and how important others lives are, and you'll know the right thing to do.
