Understanding Baby Sounds with Dunstan Baby Language
I was shopping the other day and discovered the strangest product I've seen for a long time. It took me by surprise because although I've had a child it never occurred to me that they might have a language that could be understood by us.
As mothers (and Fathers) we obviously understand our babies body language and know when the child is in pain or needs to be fed. Beyond that I always assumed the other noises a baby makes were just that noises.
Not according to Priscilla Dunstan her research has confirmed that babies can actually talk and be understood by others if we have the key.

Move over Dog Whisperer
The Baby Whisperer
For many years some dog trainers have been claiming they can understand what their dogs want by the sounds they make. Priscilla took this one step further and discovered how to understand her baby.
When Priscilla became a Mother to baby Tom she made the connection with the sounds her baby was making and her babies needs. A bold claim I'm sure you'd agree but over 9 years of research involving thousands of babies in many countries and of different nationality has proved that it does indeed work.
According to Priscilla babies between the ages of zero to three months use five sounds that signal their basic needs.
What is truly remarkable is that these sounds are universal, they mean the same thing no matter what language the parents speak.
Knowing what your young baby needs are does have some benefits.

My Opinion on the Dunstan System
Is it worth learning Baby Language?
Do I believe that babies under three months have a language we can learn and understand? I'll be honest maybe. I do believe we can communicate with our babies by body language and the tone of our voice but a language I'm not really sure. One thing though it is a lot of fun! It can help the whole family bond by learning the language together (how many things do we do together as a family these days). This is particularly true when it comes to the Father who can easily feel left out when a new baby comes home.
I would say if you have $30 to spare this is a great product that will give the whole family hours of fun and who knows you may be one of the 90% who said it helped them understand their babies better.
