About Dutch Clocks

Dutch clocks have a long history. Primarily they are made in the Black Forest area and many historians report that the first of the Dutch clocks were seen in the middle ages, perhaps as early as the 1300s. You can learn much more about the history of Dutch clocks on this page.

Two of the most popular Dutch wall clocks are Zaandam and Zaanse. Zaandam and Zaanse are towns in the northern portion of the Netherlands where the clocks are made. These clocks have a number of distinguishing characteristics which you can learn about from this clock dictionary.

Another popular Dutch clock is the Frisian clock which is very ornate and often has hand painted scenes on the face. Of course, from the town of Salland another group of popular and high quality clocks are Sallander clocks.

If you haven't dealt much with Dutch clocks, you may want some assistance in looking at the value of vintage and reproductions. This page can help you in getting some estimates on clock values. Of course, if you already have a Dutch clock but are unsure of it's true identity, the forum at the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors can help with that.

There are wrought iron wall clocks, pendulum clocks, artistic clocks, and so many more. Other inspirational items might include artwork, a rug, a piece of furniture, or fabric.
