I have many heritages, amoung them, Dutch. My original ancestor into this country was a man named Hubert Vandebogart.

 I thought it would be fun to check out things for Dutch-Americans and place them here.

Famous Americans of Dutch Descent 

  • Thomas Edison - inventor
  • Herman Melville - author of "Moby Dick" and other noteworthy novels.
  • Theodore Roosevelt - Vice president of the United States under William McKinley. Became president upon the latter's assination. Elected in 1904, served until 1909.
  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt - President of the United States from 1933 until his death in 1945. Led during the Great Depression and World War II.
  • Eleanor Roosevelt - wife and second cousin of Franklin Delano, niece of Theodore. Represented the United States of America in the United Nations. Was a great political force in her own right, too.
  • Martin van Buren - President of the United States from 1836 to 1840.
  • Cornelius Vanderbilt - transporation tycoon and bank financier. Once considered the richest man in the world.
  • Gloria Vanderbilt - descendant and one of the heirs to Cornelius Vanderbilt's fortune. Also, a reknowned clothing designer in her own right.
  • Anderson Cooper - son of Gloria Vanderbilt, and CNN newsperson.
