Why go DVDs?
Bonus sections in the DVD disk only whet the curiosity of buyers to go after these hi-tech players. Why wouldn't they, given the movie distributors' offer that the disk contains never before seen footages and special behind the scene features?Movie viewing has really carved a place of its own in the home. We are able to rent DVDs through the mail and they come without hassle, and if we need blank disks for burning, DVDs are sold at local grocery stores. We have reached a point where everyone is able to afford a DVD-player. And so everyone has some sort of home entertainment system going.
What Cnet says...
Here are the latest release players from CNet, some belonging to high-def category, where all (except the Xbox at 8.4) scored a minimum of 8.3 points.
Gateway Connected DVD Player and Ethernet 10/100 Card (shown at right, upper item)
This DVD player offers easy access to PC-based photos, music, and video over your Ethernet network.
Microsoft Xbox 360 (20GB) (shown at right, lower item)
The Xbox hits two birds with one stone: The power and performance of a high-end gaming PC plus a digital media package!
Denon DVD-2930CI (not shown)
This player packs two giants: image quality and (unfortunately) price.

What Consumer Search Chose...
1.The Philips DVP3140/37 (shown at right, topmost) seems to stand out in reviews as a great low-cost pick.
2.Among upconverting DVD players, the OPPO DV-970HD and OPPO DV-981HD (both shown respectively below the Philips unit) have received excellent reviews.
3.The Philips DVP5960/37 (shown at right, bottom) is an inexpensive upconverting DVD player with solid image quality that will impress buyers not scrupulous with the engineering side.

What's Up?
So what will it be? The Denon or the Oppo? Or perhaps the Philips? Or maybe a safe choice like the Sony? Or why not all of them in an Xbox 360?
In any case, try clicking the "See the Top Brands" link above to see what's up at eBay right now.
