Common Dwarf Hamster Illnesses...
Diabetes
Yes, dwarf hamsters can have diabetes. And yes they catch it the same way that you can get, too many sweets! Be careful when you give your hamster that sweet treat, you could be impacting his/her health over the long term!
Colds
As I told you in the beginning of this lense. Your dwarf hamster,( or any hamster for that matter) can catch your cold. Believe it or not, they will exhibit the same signs that you have when you have a cold! They will have a runny nose and sneeze! I know it looks cute but, if it hasn't cleared up in a couple of days, they need to go to the veterinarian, ASAP!
Heat
No, silly. We're not talking about dwarf hamster sex, we're talking about a little known common dwarf hamster illness. Heat, as its called occurs when the dwarf hamster eats too many fatty foods. These fatty foods are in the form of treats that the owner has given them. The owner gets a little too generous with the treats, (a.k.a. sunflower seeds), and these treats cause the hamsters metabolism to speed up or "heat up", which in turn causes them to lose hair.
