Money Saving Tips for Emergency Preparedness
Excerpts From Ann Agent of Oregon (A Squared Curriculum Forum)
- You can clean most things with baking soda, its cheap stock up! It works better than traditional scrubbing powder, I also use it to clean my carpets as well, us it in boiling water to clean out drains, etc.
- Vinegar is also a good resource to have on hand, use it in the rinse cycle in the dishwasher and the laundry, instead of expensive fabric softener.
- Peroxide is cheap, we use it on stains (oxyclean is merely powdered peroxide and has a long shelf life -- if you can find the cheap no-name brands stock up on it in powdered form, and constitute it with water when you need it in liquid form.)
- Buy borax (20 mule team in the green and yellow box in the laundry section) add a tablespoon to your dishwasher and cut the dishwashing detergent in half-- in some locations depending upon the type of water you have, you might find success using it instead of dishwashing detergent (which is caustic and very poisonous)
- Stock up on salt. Its been said by Dr Robinson who created Robinson Curriculum, to store as much of salt as you can, that when the economic collapse happens people will need salt as its a "hard" commodity which can be used for trade. Buy it in bulk!
- As I use up peanut butter (we eat a lot of it around here) the jars are plastic and wide mouthed, I clean them well. Then each time I go to the store, I buy 1 lb bags of lentils, black beans, red beans, split peas, etc. some types of macaroni. We don't have a large budget to buy in bulk which is best, but I do try to squeeze those extra bags of dried food in my cart, since they are affordable to build up what little I do have.
- Save your 2 liter bottles, wash and refill with tapwater. When you store rice, wheat and dried legumes, you will need LOTS of water for cooking and soaking! You can also contact local food processing plants to pick up empty barrels they get honey, vinegar, bleach, etc in. They charge you $10 to $25 a barrel (cheaper than the nice new blue water barrels you can buy from emergency suppliers which range about $75 each).
Ammo shortages caught everyone by surprise
Food shortages are next
Likewise, when grocery shelves are empty or hold only contaminated food at inflated prices, it will not have come without warning.
* You can't withhold bank loans from farmers and expect crops to magically appear.
* Three years of a drought in California combined with "tree hugger" politics leave dust fields where crops once grew.
* Using corn for fuel instead of food is not smart. It's not a mystery why the price of corn has tripled in four years.
* Another Swine Flu pandemic, which is related to our food supply, WILL have a major impact on the food we eat.
You cannot schedule when an emergency will occur, but you CAN schedule your response - get your food supply from eFoodsDirect NOW!
"If the American people ever allow the bank to control the issuance of their currency, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Time To Start Buying Food!!
http://www.efoodsdirect.com/ {Reasons to Store Food} The only sure thing about the future is that there is no sure thing. Storing food for your family is one of the most prudent actions you can take. No one knows what can or will affect the functioning of society or food distribution. With stored food, you eliminate the worry. The attention of the nation is focusing more intensely, each week, on families storing quantities of emergency food and water in their homes. Why? Potential disruptions in the food supply can be caused by a number of factors: (Note the best estimates of the necessary time period for self-reliance.) Job Loss/Unemployment Economic Downturn Quarantines Erratic Weather - Droughts Earthquakes, Hurricanes and Floods Contamination of Food Supplies To Avoid Dependency on Commercial Food Storage Centers Transportation Disruptions

- There have always been good AND bad times but I think since it's been so long since a 'bad' time, we have an entire generation that has no clue what hard times really are. Your lens is very informative and you have provided great product links to get people started FAST and EASY! A hearty 5*s too!
