Ebay alternatives - other venues to sell online

Since eBay started in 1995 it has grown to be a household name for online selling and buying.  For many years eBay has held the top spot for online selling for professional business' to stay at home mothers.  Millions of products to buy and millions of products listed to sell.

For the last few years, many long terms eBay sellers have moved on to different venues or created their own websites due to the ever increasing policies eBay has pushed forward.  Increases in selling fees and the ever demanding DSR system (detailed seller ratings) and account suspensions have made many sellers look elsewhere to sell their products.  The high demand for over excellent customer service and the one sided view against sellers has pushed the internet to offer other choices for sellers to offer their products to the world.

This lens will help you expore other online selling venues

This lens will help you seek other venues to sell your items, whether you sell new products or hand made items, used goods or services, all the following information will help you source other areas to get sales. By no means are any of the following sites any where as large or as know as eBay or do they get the traffic that eBay does but to place all your eggs in one basket is limiting you to 'extra' sales.

What have you got to lose?

I am a Powerseller on eBay and have been for a few years now but within the last year I decided to venture into other selling venues to see if I could make that 'extra' buck and not have to rely on eBay as my only selling venue. For some the concept is scary to venture onto another selling platform and most are trial and error as to whether they will work for you or not. I asked myself - 'what have I got to lose?' nothing, just some time to add my items to a few sites and to sit back and see what happens. I suggest you try some sites; they are listed in no order of preference or performance and if you would like to recommend a site please drop me a comment and I will add the details.

Some e-commerce sites do offer options to upload your listings to craigslist. Beware of spam and bogus offers for your items and be careful where and when you arrange to meet a potential buyer !

Social networks and groups

There are also groups you can join on sites such as Yahoo and social networking sites such as Myspace, Twitter and Facebook. These sites can take some time to market your items and they are 'social' networks and not selling sites.
I hope this lens has given you some help into finding just a few other alternative selling sites from eBay. Spreading your items over a few other market places will help increase your sales, and maybe just maybe enable you to make more money!

Please see my free ebay alternatives Squidoo lens. One can succeed selling outside on marketplaces other than Ebay but sellers should focus on optimizing their listings by adding relevant detailed information about their items. When listing books, electronics, video games, ect. It's important that one adds UPC, MPN, Brand and/or ISBN to their listings.

I would also like to suggest MVPTraders. The site is very simple to use with some useful buying and selling features. The site is new but the traffic seem to be increasing each month. They offer free listing and free membership. Although the site is new they are constantly improving the site like being able to import your ratings from other selling venues. It's worth giving them a try www.mvptraders.com

I sell on Bonanzle. As stated above, it does not have the traffic
of eBay but free listing and "freedom" make it worth a try. Once you
get the hang of how it works, it is a great place to be. It has vision
and great support and is one of the fastest growing new sites,
especially with so many leaving eBay. Right now the site relies heavily on it's
forums and members for promotion and those forums also provide almost instant support. One of the coolest things??? The owners/operators actually enter the forums, monitor and comment in them and you often get an answer from one of them when you contact support. Yes real people who are directly involved in the creation of Bonanzle actually communicate with you!
A very friendly community with a positive attitude.
I have also sold on Etsy with about the same amount of sales as Bonanzle but it did cost more to list and sell. No where near as expensive or controlling as eBay though. I was limited there to vintage and handmade items which was ok since that is what I sell anyway.

I've used Atomic Mall, Ecrater and Blujay. I've had the best success with AM, like EC cause its totally free but unfortunately haven't had much luck there. Blujay is free but not managed well with too many drop shippers and questionable sellers/scammers from other countries selling trademarked merchandise knockoffs . Very good lens.
