This lens is all about collectible tabletop games. It covers Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering, my two main choices for tabletop games. I have enjoyed these games throughout my life, my collection is quite extensive. If dragons and wizards interest you, then come on in and check out my collection.

Magic the Gathering

Magic the gathering is a game of wit and investment. Wit is your knowledge of the game, investment is your vast library of ultra rare cards you have spent time and money collecting.

Your goals to become an expert; get better cards, and learn all you can about the game. An expert player will have key cards and vast knowledge of the game. The rules can be confusing at times, and perhaps even contradicting. So just remember, the more you play the better you will get. Learn from past mistakes and try to find key cards.

Since Magic the Gathering was released in 1993 by Richard Garfield thousands of new cards have been added. To this day some of those first cards are still key cards in expert decks.

The right cards for you depends mostly on who you play with.

If you are just starting out the best thing to do is buy two or three starter decks. Try to play against other basic decks at first, you will find cards that are important to your expert deck quickly.

If you have a good deck try pitting it against an expert deck a few times to weed out the useless cards. Play testing is important to finding key cards that you will want in your expert deck.

Why Are Some Cards Better Than Others?

Force of Will

Some cards are just better than others in most situations. Try to weed out the cards that rely on one or situations just to use. Fill your expert deck with great game winning cards like Force of Will.

Collectible Card Games

A collectible card game (CCG), also called a trading card game (TCG) or customizable card game, is a game played using specially designed sets of playing cards. While trading cards have been around for longer, CCGs combine the appeal of collecting with strategic gameplay.

The first collectible card game was The Base Ball Card Game produced by The Allegheny Card Co. and registered on April 5, 1904.Sports Collectors Digest (April 7, 2000) at 50. Role-Playing Games (RPG)

Role-Playing Games or (RPG) is a game where players assume the role of fictional characters.

The players determine the outcome of the game by choosing their actions. They can improvise freely in turn shaping the game to each individual.

Role-Playing Games differ from other types of games by creating social interaction whereas other games focus on competition.

In some online video game players enjoy role-playing as a way to express there characters ideas and general makeup. This can go to extremes with the role-player, even as far as online marriage.

Dungeon Magazine

Dungeon Magazine is a great way to provide content for any dungeon master. Each issue has several stand alone adventures, which can be thrown into any campaign.

This gives the DM a steady supply of new content without having to go out and buy new modules.

My all time favorite tabletop game is Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a role playing game in which player characters can succeed or fail in there actions based upon the roll of a dice. The choices these characters make decide the outcome of the game.

One player, the game master (GM), sets up a scenario for the player characters. The GM describes the setting and inhabitants; the player characters describe the actions they are taking, and the GM describes the outcome.

Dungeons & Dragons is a form of interactive storytelling, you are a big part of that story. Every scenario is different, this makes every game unique.

Dungeons & Dragons, published in 1974 by Dave Arneson's and E. Gary Gygax's TSR, was the first commercial role-playing game sold to the public.

Dungeons & Dragons was a subject of controversy in the 1980s when well-publicized opponents claimed it caused negative spiritual and psychological effects. Academic research has discredited these claims.

I'd completely forgotten about Magic the Gathering. It is such a brilliant concept and so well done. I remember it just blew me away when I first encountered it. Time to try some again...

eBay is a great place to buy and sell D&D books and merchandise. I have personally purchased D&D books for my sons on eBay and wonder if I have purchased from you!

I like your introduction and your feedback in the talk bubbles. I'll have to figure out how to add them to my lens about my eBay store.
