Where Have All The eBay Sellers Gone?

Have you noticed that it's getting harder and harder to find your favorite items at eBay? The small mom and pop sellers that brought you the best vintage, one of a kind pottery, china, and hundreds of other antiques and collectibles are leaving in droves because of some changes eBay has made to their selling policies. Where have all the eBay sellers gone?

Stay at home/work at home moms who are trying to earn extra money on eBay are finding it more and more difficult to do so. Why? Because of eBay's continually changing policies that work against sellers and because of the ever increasing fees eBay charges sellers. This is making it really hard to shop for gently used baby clothes, kids clothes and toys, very popular items!

Many favorite sellers have been forced right off the site in favor of the huge sellers of mass-produced and/or drop shipped items. Never mind that eBay started as a wonderful site for buying second hand anything.

Where have all the eBay sellers gone?

So Where DID All Those eBay Sellers Go?

Answer: To eBay alternative auction sites

Well, dear readers, they moved away from eBay. Some went on to other auction sites called "eBay alternative auction sites." Some sellers built their own stores either on marketplace sites like Blujay, eCrater or a fully hosted ecommerce site.

This lens invites former eBay sellers who have moved to such other places to add their links below. I am happy to help promote your new selling home.

I urge eBay shoppers to check out these sellers and support them in their efforts to support themselves. If you love to shop like I do, please visit these fine sellers at their new venues and buy from them there.

Popular eBay Alternatives By Listing Count

Listing count means how many unique listings for items an auction site has. If I list one auction for 10 items, it is (and should be) only counted once. If I list 10 auctions for 1 item, the listing count is 10. Most online auction sites do not allow duplicate listings of the same item. This is a good thing.

According to the Auction Site Count chart at the Powersellers Unite site, ecrater, Bonanzle and eBid led the pack of eBay alternatives by listing count on 05-21-10. Today, 05-19-11, the same sites are still at the top, just in a different order - eBid, ecrater and Bonanzle.

High listing counts mean the sites are very popular among sellers. Following that, sellers must like these particular sites for the seller features available and more than likely the sales they get as well.

Bonanzle - Find Everything But The Ordinary
While everybody is welcome to sell on Bonanzle, our most successful sellers are those that have items that aren't new, shiny, and mass-produced. Why? Because we believe Amazon already does a darned good job at helping people find new DVDs, CDs, electronics, computers, and books. We specialize in helping you buy and sell everything else.

I was an eBay seller for near 2 years and was doing well - I was a small seller from home, and I am NOT a seller anymore. It was weird how THEY booted me, saying I had too many negatives one month... that i didn't! I tried talking to someone and got nowhere. so they put me on a month restriction and I had excellent feedback.. I went to list again and the next day I was closed out. I messaged and I called someone and got no where. I gave up

Love the eBay shirt. I used to sell quite actively until a few years ago. I think that eBay just got a little too big for their pants.
