- Althought I got my books on time, you need to take a close look at the return process. They send no reminders to you that your rental is coming up for return or renewal, then all of a sudden you get an email that your rental was due three days ago and you are charged the full amount of the book. Everyone you deal with on a rental or credit basis sends reminders, what doesn't this company. I was charged the full amount of the books totaling $436. When I called to dispute the problem with customer service they were very unhelpful. We were on vacation and had just had our car broken into and everything including laptops or anything to connect to the internet. That means I couldn't extend my rental as I was on vacation. I explained this to the customer service rep. and they had no sympathy. I promised to return my rental books and they informed me they wouldn't give a refund at all, and if they could anyway give me my money back it would only be 50%. which means I paid close to $100 to rent the two books for the semester but was being charged over $200 for them being late! this seemed a little ridiculous seeing as I wasn't keeping the books PLUS paying more for the books being a few days late than it costed me to rent them for the whole semester! I will NEVER rent from them again!

- This "company", sent me the correct book in very, very, very bad
condition...so I used the chat feature on their website...I told the
customer service rep that the book was in bad shape and he said that
they know about it and I won't be charged a fee when I returned it
because it was already damaged and DIRTY when they sent it to me...well,
I returned my rental before the due date and they charged my credit
card $64.90 because it was "damaged", the class I took was online so the
book was in the SAME condition I had received it in! So, basically I
paid $110 for a crappy book that I returned! Then they had the nerve to
tell me that they can happily ship it back to me for $10.00 IF I wanted
and it will be mine! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? So I am in the process of
disputing the charge! Oh, and the cd-rom that comes with the book didn't
come with the book! This is the absolute worst place to rent a book, it
was my first and my LAST time! SCAMMERS!!! NOTE: if you get a book that is in bad condition, return it immediately and ask for a replacement.

- I ordered a book for my son this year. I ordered on Aug 21st and the shipping was supposed to happen in 7 business days. That did not happen and there as no communication. They never pick up the phone. Finally they responded to my email and said "we cannot give a date". Who buys stuff without a date of delivery? Then finally they sent an email that I will receive my book on Sep 22nd. Finally the book arrived on Sep 22nd and guess what - it is a wrong book!!! I don't know what part of textbooks they don't understand. Textbooks are for school and the kids need to go to school with the book, it cannot be delayed etc etc. I will never buy from Ecampus and I recommend others also to buy from Amazon instead - they stand behind what they ship and their dates!

- I ordered from ecampus because they are reasonably priced but they FAIL to mention the full description of what you order. I ordered a text book that I needed soon for my environmental studies class. I fortunately got the book soon but it is an international student edition which is not what I want or need for my class. Now I am forced to return it and have to buy the correct edition, which will hopefully come to me soon. I am disappointed with ecampus because the description of the text book NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about an ISE (international student edition). The textbook even says "not for sale in the United States" because it is different from the US edition. I am not so angry about the fact that I am not getting my fully money back for returning the book, but I am very disappointed in the fact that my homework has to wait until the US edition comes in. This all could have been avoided if ecampus described this book (living in the environment 16th edition) as an ISE.

- I rented a textbook from this place and after a week of no book, I emailed them. They said it hadn't shipped from the vendor yet, so they don't know when it will be sent. So i canceled the order and rented the textbook for a shorter period of time from another company, which was MUCH cheaper. However, they magically sent it within that same day that I canceled it. I was just planning on returning it for a refund until I noticed the crappy restocking fee policy. 10% of my order would have been 8 whole dollars and on top of that, I'd have to pay for shipping. Shipping by the way was like $9. The other textbook I rented was about $17 cheaper, so paying for shipping and the restocking fee would not save me any money whatsoever. I guess I'm keeping this textbook since the other place (BOOKRENTER.COM) pays for shipping and there's no restocking fee. I actually have another book rented out by these people, which is past the 30 day refund thing, and the shipping is free to return it. But, I guess since I'm asking them for my money back on one measly item, they have to scam me in every way possible. I can't express how angry I am and now I'm rather worried after reading these reviews about what else is going to go wrong. Don't ever buy from this company.

- I went out and looked at several reviews before buying from eCampus. They were also an A- company in the BBB. I wanted to let you know that I got my book in time and overall it was a pleasant experience. Id use them again.

- Well, this is the first positive comment I've received to date about the company. And you just so happen to mention their BBB rating. Hrmm...Sounds fishy.
From the comments below their BBB rating should be dropping very, very soon.

- DO NOT...AND I REALLY MEAN DO NOT RENT TEXTBOOKS FROM THIS SCAM WEBSITE!!! I MADE THE MISTAKE IN JANUARY EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE UNTIL NOW! I turned in my books with the UPS label on the box and the packing slip inside. Books are now in UPS hands. Apparently they got lost for a couple days (like 3 days!) I checked my bank account and there was a debit for over $300.00. Of course I do not have 300 in my name, heck that is why I RENT textbooks and not buy them. So of course my account in overdrawn, I am being charged overdraft fees every day, this ate up all my paycheck, and all they said when I called was..."the books are now your property." seriously? who does that? scammers! thieves! and that is what these people are. STAY AWAY AND GO TO CAMPUSBOOKRENTALS.COM!! I have not had one problem with them!!!! SO use them and tell all your friends about them, they are the bet deal out there trust me I checked! I will never ever use this scam website called ecampus.com ever again!

- Stay Away!!!! They are horrible customer service!!!! I wish I had read the reviews first. i rented a book returned it a month before it was due and then they charged me for the book anyways, $100. When i asked for my money back they said it could take months for them to process it. Their customer service is rude and unreasonable. I am now disputing the charge with my bank, it has been a nightmare of an experience, who knows if I'll ever get my money back from these scammers!!!

- I have been waiting over one month for the book I ordered from them. When I called customer service I was told that there is no way to contact the supplier to find out when the book is coming in and when it will be shipped out. They actually TOLD ME that they had NO WAY TO CONTACT THE SUPPLIER-which is clearly untrue, because that's simply improbable in a business relationship. Please do not waste your time or your money or your energy. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had!!!!!!!!!

- DO NOT BUY FROM ECAMPUS.COM. I ordered a book for my history class on January 25th, and here I am today with still no book. Everytime I called they would tell me it is getting shipped from wherever they ordered the book. I missed a quiz because of these idiots. Luckily the bookstore which was out of the book I needed restocked and I was able to buy from them. I canceled my order from ecampus and they took the charge off. TERRIBLE RELIABILITY

- ECampus.com is the worst company I have ever dealt with. Never buy anything from them. I expressed shipped my textbook because I needed it in a few days. It was supposed to have arrived in 2 days. It's been three weeks and I have not received the textbook I paid over $100 for, and I have missed homework assignments. Their customer service is horrible and I do not know if I'll ever get my book or if I can get my money back. I wish I would have read the company's reviews before I purchased.

- I have used campusbookrentals.com for three semesters with no problem. There rental prices are reasonable and the books usually arrive within 3-4 days. The books may not arrive at the same time because they come from different places. I even ended up with a new book from Amazon one semester. I guess campusbooks figured they would eventually rent it again. They even include a pre-paid UPS return enevelope so you can send the books back after the semester is over. They even offer a grace period so if your books arrive back a few days late they won't charge you. Overall I would give them an "A" grade.

- I bought a book at ecampus for $130, they had no problems taking the money, took them 2 days to process the order, they missent the book to California. I emailed them to let them know that I was having issues. After 3 days with hearing nothing back I call them and they tell me that I would have to wait yet another 7-10 days and if I still didn't have it then call back and ask about refund. Meanwhile, my class starts tomorrow. I told them I was just going to get the book from the college, they offer me a credit with their site and tell me that I will not recieve a refund without shipping their book back...The same book that I will not recieve because UPS said the sender sent to California. I really wish I'd have found this website first!!!

Very Unhappy Experience with eCampus
Nov 5, 2010 @ 6:29 pm | delete
- Watch out for this scheme!!! I placed the order for marketplace vendors through eCampus. ECampus collected my money. I placed this order since I thought eCampus is a responsible median. ONLY TWO HOURS after I placed the order, I found out the books were international version (not US version, which may be different in many ways) and tried to cancel the orders, but it was ?too late?. Ecampus.com denied responsibility when I explained the problems to them. Marketplace vendors ignored my request to cancel the orders (no replied email). The books arrived (I still have them in the original package, unopened by now), and I talked to my credit card company (Chase) to dispute this charge. Chase told me that I will have to mail the books back to the senders, who are in Malaysia, for them (Chase) to help me to dispute the charge. BUT, to mail the books back to Malaysia, I will have to pay OVER $100 USD for US postage of 2 books. These 2 books cost me about $140, so I don't think it's worth it to mail them back to the Malaysian vendors. I still have the books, lost $140, and very upset with eCampus' irresponsibility when acting as a median between US consumers/buyers and oversea marketplace merchants. I'm a very savvy on-line buyer, and this is beyond what I can tolerate.

- Hi,
My book is not here yet. I ordered it last week and I actually asked them how long it will take to get my book. They said it'll take 1-3 days to process then 1-5 days to get to my location. After 7 days (excluding weekends) and multiple of emails, they finally processed my order. My class is starting next week and I will not have my book when my class starts. (I actually don't know when I'll get my book) I checked my order status and it doesn't say anything (NOTHING AT ALL). WILL NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE AGAIN!!!
IF YOU WANT TO ORDER ANY BOOKS FROM THEM, MAKE SURE YOU ORDER THE BOOKS AT LEAST 3-4 weeks before you need them. I RECOMMEND ORDERING BOOKS FROM OTHER SITES. DON'T DEAL WITH THEM.
Their motto is "easy, fast and cheap"... complete BS!!!

- Might seem like a good deal, but takes over a week to process order, then might not even have books on hand even though listed as in stock and will ship in 3-4 days. Has now been 11 days, semester has already started... no books. Customer service is completely unhelpful and can only apologize, but now have to spend over twice as much to buy at bookstore because no time to order from Amazon... Save yourself the trouble and get them from Amazon... much more reliable

- They are really unhelpful, and same happened with me. I ordered a book, which was told to be shipped in 3-7 business days - but it's been more than 15 days and not only I haven't received a book, I haven't even received a Tracking number. On contacting them, they say 'it was our marketplace from which you purchased the book, and we have no responsibility for that.Contact the seller". The seller doesn't reply as well. Why all the cheap things have to be bad?

Here are the Legit Textbook Companies
You can actually save big $$ by renting...
eCampus: buying, selling and renting textbooks
There are a number of different ways in which eCampus can help cash-strapped students. eCampus offers textbook rental, used textbook sales, new textbooks, e-books and a textbook market place.Textbook rental -- the textbook rental service offered by eCampus is very straightforward: in return for a small fee you get to keep the textbook for a certain amount of time, after which you simply return it to eCampus. And here is the really good bit: shipping is completely free! The textbook rental service offered by eCampus is perfect under certain circumstances, such as when you need a really expensive textbook for only a limited period of time. Buying the textbook does not make sense in that situation, and renting it from eCampus is the perfect solution
E-textbooks - E-textbooks are another valuable service offered by eCampus. As the name implies, these are electronic versions of textbooks. You simply pay a small fee to download e-textbooks. This service is fully licensed and completely legal. Buying e-textbooks from eCampus has three very big advantages. The first advantage is that you will not be carrying heavy books around with you, because these are electronic versions of books that you will read using a computer or other electronic device. The other big advantage of e-textbooks is that they are environmentally friendly as they do not consume paper! The third advantage of e-textbooks is something that busy students will really appreciate: having a textbook in the form of an electronic file means that you can perform electronic searches of the document incredibly quickly -- much more quickly than by manually scanning the index of a hard-copy textbook. Using e-textbooks from eCampus will save you a ton of time that you can use more productively.
eCampus buys used books -- if you own books that you no longer need and want to sell them, selling them with eCampus is very simple: simply go to the eCampus website, insert the ISBN number of the book into a form and you will immediately be given a quote. If you're happy to sell your book at that price, eCampus will pay for the shipping! Selling your used textbooks is an excellent way to recover some of the money that you initially spent on them. By selling your used textbooks on eCampus, you will not just be making some money -- you will also be helping other students obtain those textbooks at reasonable prices. Alternatively, instead of being paid with money, you can choose to be paid with eCampus store credits that you can use to buy stuff you need.
Textbook marketplace -- the textbook marketplace of eCampus allows third parties to sell books. This is another great way to buy textbooks cheaply. Of course you yourself can sell your used textbooks on the eCampus textbook marketplace. The textbook marketplace of eCampus has no start-up fees and no listing fees, in keeping with its money-saving philosophy.
eCampus also sells supplies and college apparel
eCampus does not just deal with textbooks. It also sells office supplies, art supplies and college apparel at very advantageous prices. Some of the items on sale in the supplies section of eCampus are being sold at discounts as high as 55%! There is a clear commitment to relieving college students of some of their financial burden. The key point here is that it is not just a one-off discount: you will spend three or four years at college, and the expenses associated with textbooks, apparel and supplies really add up to considerable sums over that period. With the considerable discounts offered by eCampus, the discounts will add up to unbelievable figures by the end of your three- or four-year college degree. It pays to know about eCampus before going to college! eCampus reviews: conclusion
eCampus is a wonderful website that can relieve the financial pressure experienced by students who have to buy expensive textbooks, supplies and college apparel. It provides a number of textbook solutions so that you can choose one depending on your specific needs. The textbook rental service offered by eCampus allows you to borrow books for a tiny fee; eCampus pays for all the shipping fees, making this an incredibly valuable service for students. The textbook rental service offered by e-campus is perfect for those situations in which there is a very expensive textbook of which you only need a small part and that cannot be borrowed elsewhere. The company also sells used and new textbooks, and also buys your used books. All of these procedures are made smooth and easy by the textbook retailer, and the free shipping is also a great help! Also be sure to grab the latest eCampus coupon code before you check out to take advantage of any available discounted deals.eCampus also offers a marketplace in which you can buy used books from third parties or sell your books to them. In addition to the book-related services, eCampus sells office supplies and art supplies at amazing discounts, as well as college apparel such as sportswear and lab coats. eCampus is committed to selling books, supplies and apparel to students at the discounted prices they need!
We hope you found our eCampus review helpful. If you have used eCampus for your textbook buying, selling or renting needs, or to buy office or art supplies, we encourage you to post your own user reviews, your fellow students would find these very helpful! Post them in the comment box on top of the page.
