eHow: Earn Money Writing How-to Articles

Before you start contributing content on a website, it's nice to know how much money you can expect to make from your writing and promotion efforts. Interestingly, "How much money can you make on eHow?" is one of the first questions newbies ask when they start posting on the eHow community forums. And not surprisingly, the answers they receive vary greatly -- from top earners making $1,000, $2,000 and even $3,000 monthly in revenue from their eHow articles, to those earning only pennies a day.

The truth is, you can make a nice side income on eHow, and with enough quality articles, even a full time income. But some writers earn very little. The difference is knowing the ins and outs of online writing and marketing and how they apply to the eHow site.

With the right techniques, any writer can build a sizable income on eHow.

Some of my eHow articles have earned only pennies, but 24 of my contributions to the site have earned over $100 apiece. My top-earning article is currently at $1,530 with the second boasting $937 in earnings to date. Yes, these numbers are for single articles.

So what sets the top-earners apart from articles that earn nothing? How do you write articles that earn $20, $100 or more within a year?

The main advice I give is to choose niche topics and unique keyword combination not already in use on eHow by another author. There is no point in over saturating a niche -- Google will ignore your article most of the time. Instead, research what people are looking for on the topic and create titles that answer to these searches.

Each article should be at least 300 words in length, and more if the topic requires it. Flesh out your articles to provide enough content for your reader.
