E text readers are becoming more popular everyday, from the humble beginnings of the Sony ereader, to the huge Kindle launch on Oprah. With the start of this semester digital texts are becoming common.

The Kindle DX is Amazons most recent ebook reader and it has several interesting functions. But the DX was expressly planned to put a dent in the e textbook market. The DX has a sizeable display that one could actually read textbooks off of.

It also automatically changes from portrait to landscape for browsing charts and graphs, and has support for native PDF files.In fact, this Fall, Amazon is even running a test test program, using Kindle e textbooks, at 6 college campuses.

Each school will get 50 pilot units and will be obligated to submit feedback.. The DX comes with an extensive e textbook catalog and will be popular with more than just the pilot students.

But, that is not the only action in town. Digital e readers stores are springing up all over the Internet. A great e textbook store is iChapters.

They offer a unique angle on e textbooks. Not only do you save on digital downloads, but with iChapters you can download single chapters and not have to pay for the complete book.

They are also having a large promotion this school year where 5 participants who sign up for the service will win $1000 worth of free textbooks. The e textbook push is launching. Another big contender in the market is CourseSmart. You can subscribe to each course book you need that semester.

You don't in fact own the book but you have access the whole semester. Save some room on that book shelf. Download in the library when it is time to do research.

One of the oldest and established World wide web textbook shops is eCampus and they are all over the new e textbook market. With an established website purchasing is simple.

Public schools are getting in on the game too. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the digital textbook initiative in California this last June.

This initiative will implement digital textbooks for mathematics and science at a Southern California High University and then it will stage out to other campuses, grades, and subjects.

The change to ebook should save public schools millions of dollars per year. And I'm sure once the savings are realized additional States will follow suit. Digital texts makes updating trouble-free and cheap.

This is the start of the e textbook renaissance and soon these will be as household as the chalkboard.
