How I Got Into Internet Marketing
Ranked #34,797 in Business & Work, #467,325 overall
I would like to start off by telling you about myself. I am an average American keeping the American Dream alive, and yes, even in this economy. I know that I always had big dreams, but never really knew how to get there.
I got great grades in high school, but did not see a viable way to go to college. My parents did not graduate high school, so college was not even really a thought. My dad made decent money, but saving for college was not on the agenda. I had no car, lived far from a college, and really no inspiration. But, I knew I wanted to do something big, someday...... Sounds like a lot of us, right?
I met my husband at my first job while I was in high school. He was dashingly handsome, rode an steel horse and was a few years older than me. All in all, he was and still is a wonderful person. He ended up buying me my first car. We dated for 2 years and I married him after high school. We then got the best jobs we could find and moved out on our own!
We both managed to get jobs that paid the bills, we had a baby, and bought our first home. Things were moving smoothly, life was fine. Then something happened that changed our lives forever. I got injured at my job and had to go on worker's compensation. I could not return to my regular job because my injury resulted in me losing my ability to speak!
I had to go to speech therapy and now get botox injections in my throat which has improved my ability to speak and breathe which is great. It only took over 4 years. In the meantime, I lost my home and my job that I had for 7 years. I was fired because I could not talk(my job did involve a lot of talking.)
I did get a small settlement from the injury which I was able to live off of for a while, but sadly that has now run out and I have yet to find another job.
Although, this is not entirely a sad story. There is hope! This situation has forced me to find other means to try to support myself. I discovered ebay a few years ago and I have been making a living selling high fashion! I loooovvvvve high fashion. I used to buy tons of fashion magazines as a teen age girl and used to work at Nordstrom!
Truth be told, I need more than one income stream to try to keep me afloat and searched and searched online and lo and behold, what did I find? A way to earn cash, make money online : Internet marketing.
I was skeptical at first. Everyone made it sound so easy! I was determined though. I have always liked succeeding at whatever I did and I was determined to make this work. I dove in head first and was I ever overwhelmed! There is so much information out there that your head really starts spinning!
I started reading a forum and everybody there talks about staying focused, which I think is the hardest part. I love learning and could sit here and just take it in forever if time would allow, but unfortunately, it does not, and I need to earn cash, make money online!
So I learned about building websites, keywords, forming a list, affiliate marketing, article writing, writing my own e-book, organic traffic, web 2.0, blogging, etc....... I have been studying this for the past 2-3 months and decided to put it into action!
I am happy to say that throughout this process I have made 4 sales and 1 (recently) from my own website through article marketing. No, I am not yet independently wealthy, but it is a start. And it proves it can be done! I just need to be doing more of what I have been doing and I expect to succeed!
The really cool thing about internet marketing is that it does not discriminate. Your success is not based on a college degree, what you look like, the color of your skin, OR if you have the ability to speak! Your success is based entirely on what you put into it. It is bare bones all you! That may be hard for some of us to deal with, but I think that is what seperates us from those that need a JOB- work for somebody else for the rest of your life, and those that need to be independent and have the drive and determination to succeed even if it kills you!
That is what I am doing! Right now it is pretty much do or die! I was forced out of the NORMAL work force and I am heading full speed ahead into new horizons! I am not yet experienced and no where near a guru, just a novice willing to try to succeed.
I challenge anyone reading this, that for some reason or the other are not sure where to turn, to give it a try. Your success will not come suddenly. It may take weeks, months, or even years. The challenge is to push yourself and to be believe, and therefore knowing, it will happen! I will succeed at internet marketing and I believe, you can too!
