I've chosen to show you a sample of my income during summer months, because those months more closely reflect the actual amounts I've received during the year but my income increases drastically during the Holiday season and especially at Christmas.

You'll notice that Squidoo holds the money in your account for two months. That gives your reader/customer a two month window to return any products they buy and then decide they don't want. Two months lag time is pretty standard and fair. Once you get past your initial two months without pay, any successful lenses you've made will start earning you money and from then on you'll be paid monthly, every month by the 15th.

Squidoo pays it's lensmasters (that's what people who create lenses at Squidoo are called) through paypal.com so you'll need to set up an account for yourself there before you can get paid.

Choose a topic
By far, the most successful lenses at Squidoo.com were written about topics the writer was passionate about.

Choose a subject you know very well.

Successful Squidoo lens Ideas might include:
Your favorite video game, movie, dvd, cd, book, pass time, sport, celebrity or activity.
You can include Amazon.com modules to sell any books, movies, games, or any tools, utensils ,or equipment that goes with your chosen topic.

Squidoo even has a new iTunes module!

College students have a leg up when it comes to choosing topics that they know about because they are currently attending classes and learning lots of new things that they can share their ideas about with the world.

Squidoo.com can be a platform for you to share your new knowledge (while earning money) or even be used as a tutoring device to help your fellow students.

The lens building process is virtually self explanatory once you begin. A good tip is to explore some of the pages here at Squidoo.com to see what's possible and then just dig in and make your first page. Play around with the different modules until you get the hang of using them.

Everything can be changed or deleted as you go except for the url address that you choose for your lens. So be sure to choose a url address that matches what you plan to write about.

You might even end up deleting your first effort. I did. But I've been on a roll making lenses and earning money for myself and my favorite charities ever since.
