No WCP-What now?

If you want to write for eHow you will need to apply through Demand Media Studios. They have tightened up the requirements for writers in an attempt to provide a higher quality of content for readers. You do not have to be a professional writer just able to write well. The editors are very strict however so you should expect to get a rewrite now and then. There is one improvement to the program, however, once accepted as a writer you have the choice of writing for one of the channels that pay $15-$25 depending on how many categories you qualify for. You also have the option to write Rev Share articles through their publishing system for residuals. Here are the steps for applying to write for Demand Studios (eHow):

1. Visit the Demand Studios website and click "Apply"
2. Fill out the online application
3. Submit a Writer's Resume
4. Provide a writing sample with links to other published works
5. Wait for confirmation email for acceptance
6. Once accepted, read and aggree to Terms of Service and sign contract.
7. Provide payment information such as PayPal email address.

Once accepted you will be given 3 test articles that must be reviewed by an editor. The first article you submit will be reviewed and edited, you may get it back as a rewrite but just follow the editors instructions and it should pass. Do this will all three articles and you should be bumped up to a 10 article que. Important note, you must maintain a quality score of 3.8 or better and a grammar score of 3.8 or better to remain as a writer. They have recently let a lot of writers go for low quality articles.

Pay day is every Tuesday and Friday with the pay period ending on Wednesday and Sunday. As a writer, there is an opportunity here to make some really good money. Some veteran writers are making $200-$300 dollars a day. Follow these instructions and you can earn money writing for eHow in no time at all.

How to add links to increase your revenue

One ver good way to increase your article revenue is to add links to your articles. You can link to other articles you have written or to products pages at amazon.com or ebay.com or references to other affiliate sites you own. You can put these links in at the bottom section of the wizard that says "links" but you are not allowed to put links in the article body because the article must not read like an advertizement. The article body is for the site and the link section is for you. Give and take. If you have submitted any articles to EzineArticles.com you will be familiar with this concept.

Promoting your articles:

Make money from your writing by submitting your articles to search engines and social networking sites like Digg, Delicious,Myspace,Friendster,Twitter, and more. There are literally dozens of networking sites you can add your article URL to. I personally use Twitter, Facebook and Digg to name just a few.

Make your articles stand out in the crowd:

Write about interesting topics that have not been done to death. Look for subjects with some competition but not a lot. Take an idea and put your own spin on it or look at it from another angle. For example instead of making your title: How to make money writing for Ehow- you could use How to write more articles to increase your earnings at Ehow. You can use this format to see how many other articles may have the same title you wish to use Site:ehow.com(make money with ehow)this will bring up all articles on the site that have that name or reference in the title. Just keep changing the keywords in the parentheses until you get results that show fewer pages. This way you will have a chance of your article being found and read.

Resources for Writing for the Web

Writing for Info Barrel
I started writing for InfoBarrel on September 8, 2009. I put 4 articles out on their website. InfoBarrel does not require articles to be written in 3rd person. It is a great place to write in an informative, first person style. Many writers from eHow also place their deleted articles on the InfoBarrel website because they allow previously published content.
Writing for Life123.com
I started writing for Life123 on October 30, 2009. I heard about the site from another freelance writer in a forum. I was curious about their payment structure, so decided to give Life123 a try. Here is an explanation of the freelance writing terms and my personal experience with Life123.
Writing for Suite101
I began writing for Suite101 at the beginning of 2009. Many writers are intimidated by the applicant approval process and editorial process at Suite101. I'm here to tell you that if I can do it, so can you. I am not a professional writer, nor am I particularly brilliant in any given subject.
How to Start Freelance Writing
This lens is to help teach you how to be a freelance writer. Learning to become a freelance writer is difficult, but it is possible - maybe even more so today than ever before.

I write full time for a company now (I job I acquired through impressive freelance work with said company) and couldn't be happier, but I know what it's like to make a living writing and to try to climb that ladder. It's rough, it's hard, and I barely squeaked by out of necessity, but the feeling of living from words is one I wouldn't trade for the world.

This is a very informative and stimulating lens. It offers hope, and a spark of energy to those who are contemplating on-line freelance writing. I have considered ehow, and I suspect that Demand Media Studios is a little to rigid for me, so I chose the more flexible and interesting squidoo platform. Your lens is very easy to read, and flows nicely. As a beginner, I have learned a thing or two from your nice style. Thank You.
