Introduction to Google Adsense
What is Google Adsense
Google AdSense is an advertising program owned by Google. The Ads that make "Sense", in essence mean, that the ads that appear on each website are relevant to the website's content.

It is a very popular way for Website owners to monetize their websites by placing Google Adverts on their websites.
Before placing the ads however, they have to register as a publisher with Google Adsense. Registration is easy, all you need is to submit your information and your website or a blog that adheres to Google Adsense policies, and Google will review your website before accepting your application (you only have to apply once, even if you have more then one site). Once you become a publisher, you will be assigned a unique "publisher ID," and you can start displaying the Ads on your website(s).
How do you Earn Money
Publishers earn money anytime a visitor clicks on the adverts. You can earn anywhere from $0.05 to $5(even more) per click.
Payments
Once your total earning reaches $100, you will receive the payment from Google via Cheque or BACs.
Click Fraud
As a publisher, you need to beware of Click fraud. Click fraud is when someone sets up a website and through a system or scheme automatically clicks on the Google AdSense ads or encourages visitors to click on advertisements and tries to get paid. Never do that! This is stealing from the advertiser!
Google is always on the lookout for click throuugh fraud and can issue warnings and then decide to terminate a publisher's account.

Tips & Tricks on Maximizing Google Adsense Revenue

Placement of Google Adverts
The click through rate largely depends upon how and where you place the advertisements on your website. Research shows that the optimum positions are:
Top Left position
The first place that catches the visitor's eye is top left. This is proven by research and hence it is a very good position for your Google Ads to be in.
Place the Ads on the Top
Try to place your AdSense ads above the fold on your website which will ensure that they appear on the top half of the page and visitors can see them without scrolling down. So if a visitor doesn't find your website relevant to what they are trying to look for, they may leave your site without scrolling down. If you have AdSense ads near the top of the page then at least they may choose to leave your site by clicking one of your ads and earn you money!
Blend the Advertisements
Use the different formats and color palettes to make the Google Ads blend with the original colour theme of your website. Create a custom palette for your adverts and make them blend, so that they seem like a part of the content.
No Borders Please!
Research proves that Google Adsense ads without borders tend to generate more clicks as compared to google ads with borders. Why? Because they blend well!
Use 300 x 250 Medium Ad Unit Rectangle
It is scientifically proven that the best type of ad is the medium ad unit rectangle 300 x 250 as it provides a high click through rate.
Use the Competitive Ad Filter
Google adsense allows you to block to 200 URLs from showing up as Adverts on your website. Using this filter, you can block your competitors and MFA's from taking away your visitors.
MFA stands for Made For Adsense websites. They have lowest pay per click. You can find a list of MFA sites in your niche at Ads Blacklist who maintain a list of known MFA websites. Copy the sites and add them to your competitive ad filter.
High Quality Content:
Content is the king. Put High quality content and valuable information on your website, and you will attract more traffic and visitors, which means more money for you!
Use Section Targeting to get Relevant Ads
The more relevant the ads that appear on your webpages, the greater the chances of the visitors wanting to click them (higher Click Through Rate).
Another feature by Google Adsense called, Section Targeting, allows website owners to suggest sections of the content that they would like Google to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to the site's content.
Simply enclose the content that you want to emphasize on with these tags
Start Tag: google_ad_section_start
End Tag: google_ad_section_end
Enclose the content that you want the Google Adsense to ignore with these tags.
Start Tag: google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore)
End Tag: google_ad_section_end(weight=ignore)
