Earning Residual Income Writing for Associated Content

Make a living writing articles

How I got started writing for Associated Content

I started my freelancing career in 2009 earning residual income by writing articles for online content sites such as eHow and Associated Content. I had no experience except for high school writing assignments but I was hopeful. I read the articles of other writers for tips and methods of writing quality articles. I slowly built my library to over 100 articles, some of them were accepted for upfront pay and some of them are published as "display only". I continue to write for them because I make monthly income from the articles I have already written and the profile page provided to content producers has a professional look and I use it as my portfolio when applying to other writing jobs.

How Does Residual Income Work?

Writing articlesWhen you write an article for Associated Content you are given a choice of publishing options. You can choose upfront payments with exclusive or non-exclusive rights or opt for performance payments only, if you choose this option you retain the rights to your content and can edit or remove articles at any time. Either of these options will automatically make you eligible for performance pay. The site pays $1.50 per 1000 page views so every page view is money in your pocket. At first that $1.50 may not seem like much, but over time as your article library grows that $1.50 can become $150 or more. There are many writers on AC who claim to be making hundreds of dollars in residual income from their articles.

What Articles Qualify for Upfront Pay?

Earning MoneyAssociated Content makes upfront payment offers on content that is unique and well-written. Subjects that qualify for upfront payments are: How-to or Guide-type articles, articles on parenting, green living, product reviews and unique personal stories. Subjects that do not get upfront payments are: recipes, editorials or opinion pieces. Ideally they want content that is not already plastered all over the Internet. This means that the sources are limited and not many articles like it are posted somewhere else. The pay offered is higher for unique content not found anywhere else.
