How Google Adsense works
Revenue from Google Adsense is coming from either per-click or per-thousand-impressions. Per-click means when people click on and ads to visit the advertiser's website. Per-thousand-impressions means when a webpage that has Google Ads has been viewed for 1000 times.
In order to put on google adsense on a webpage, the webmaster will insert JavaScript code into the HTML page. If you don't know JavaScript or HTML code, you still can join Google Adsense program. Now, there are many websites which provides services and also shares ads revenues to their registered users. These websites will display Google Adsense in the web pages their members create. The revenue from Google Adsense is then shared by both webmaster and their members.

How to Earn Money
The number one misconception is "if I have AdSense I can make money." NO. The number one way to make money is to have TRAFFIC to your website. If you have no one visiting, then you don't have opportunities.
What you need to do to increase your revenue is get more traffic... LEGIT traffic. AdSense has something in the Terms of Service that says you are not allowed to pay for auto-surf traffic. So make sure you focus more on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to get traffic (also known as organic traffic) from the search engines: like Yahoo! Google MSN Ask.com, etc.
You can also use social networking websites like Digg.com, Stumbleupon.com, and BlogEngage.com to get a little boost in traffic.
Once your traffic picks up, you want to make sure that your advertisements are noticed by your users. Place them in places you feel the ads can get attention, but not take away from the overall positive appearance of the website. Don't make the site look spammy. If you give people what they want, they will hopefully bookmark your page and keep coming back. This opens more opportunities to make MORE money and get more traffic.
Taking a look at your website, coachad.org, I can see that you are not using unique content. You can have a lot of problems with the search engines and getting into the supplemental index. If you are in the supplemental index, people won't be able to see your site and therefore you will get very little organic traffic. You want to create UNIQUE content so that the search engines don't take your site as spam. I would work on fixing that. It looks like your site is using one of those program where you just replace the pub-id with yours and upload. Those are NOT good to make money. Create a blog and/or website with a subject you really enjoy. That way you can provide users with updates and keep them coming back for more.
