Choosing a good container is essential in earthworm farming. Ensure that your container has well built drainage. Make sure the holes you make are not too big, else worms might escape. Now it's turn to add some soil. Fill the container to 2/3 level which is not made up of sand and clay. I would suggest soil with a small amount of sand. You need to add food which might include vegetable and food scraps, leaves grass clippings. Stay away from manures, acidic foods, garden waste, dairy products and meat. Now it's time to choose and add your worms.

The soil should be moist but not too wet. Ensure a cool shady place. Worms are pretty hardy and can tolerate a wide range of temperatures (10 to 30 degree Celsius).
Keep ants out of your worm box. You can rub Vaseline on the legs of your box or add garden lime to where ants are gathering. They hate acidic levels and dry places.
